AbstractUsing interaction potentials screened with the Debye‐Hückel length, the effects of plasma shielding on energy levels and electrons scattering from neutral and ionized caesium are estimated. Both energy levels and atomic scattering cross‐sections are found to be sensitive to the inclusion of screening. AbstractA short review of some features of the edge plasma in limiter tokamaks is given. The limits of the simple 1‐D SOL model and the relation between the core plasma are discussed. MARFE phenomena and detached plasma are closely connected with the particle and energy balance of the SOL. Their occurrence is based on the relation of plasma parameters of the edge plasma to those of the core. Important problems of plasma wall interactions are the detection of the impurity sources and sinks and the study of the impurity transport and shielding. The non‐uniform character of plasma wall interactions and their dependence on the discharge performance still renders difficult any theoretical forecast of impurity distribution and transport and calls for better diagnost

摘要:
AbstractIt is shown that several problems, that are met when constructing a covariant statistical theory, can be circumverted demanding that only the resulting equation for the macroscopic entities are covariant whereas only mathematical meaning is ascribed to concepts as phase space and ensemble density. Accordingly a hierarchy of equations for averaged particle distributions and fields and their correlations is derived.

AbstractBy measuring the radiant flux of the resonance lines of mercury, the field strength and the electron energy distribution function the influence of the current on the parameters, especially on the energy balance of the Hg—Ar positive column is investigated, compared with a kinetic model, and interpreted. The decrease in yield of the 254 nm radiation with increasing current is linked to a corresponding increase of the losses due to elastic collisions with the rare gas atoms and is caused by the changes in the electron energy distribution function.
