摘要:
The technique of television microscopy is the only available technique for the direct quantitative measurement of skin capillary blood flow. Television microscopy has applications in both research and clinical practice, and has attracted considerable interest from clinical groups attempting to study capillary blood flow. The critical requirements for a functioning system are difficult to ascertain from the published literature. The aim of this article is therefore to describe the individual components of a television microscope system, outline the current methods of analysis and briefly describe some of the clinical applications of television microscopy.

摘要:
Modern surgery is looking for ways to carry out procedures which limit unnecessary damage to the patient. This means, in practice, using smaller incisions and special tools. An instrument for removing tissue through a small cross-section has been developed. It is suitable for both endoscopy and laparoscopy. The instrument and its development is described, and its performance evaluated in vitro and for a range of clinical procedures. Experiments aimed at uncovering the mechanism of cutting are discussed as to their relevance for practical instrument development.

摘要:
This paper reviews the currently available instrumentation used for gait studies and discusses the clinical suitability of the various methods of recording gait parameters. Most of the presently available motion analysis systems appear to be more suited to research than to the routine clinical situation. However the video vector visualisation technique appears to be the most useful clinically since it produces a real time display, is simple to operate and interpretation of the data is easier than other systems available. Some further development of the video vector visualization system is necessary to improve its accuracy and to produce quantitative information.
