AbstractThis paper presents a global solution of the tangential interpolation problem via state space concepts. the solution is obtained in two steps. the first step consists of factorization of the Nevanlinna‐Pick matrix and calculating the state space vectors of a passiven‐port network N. AbstractThe image parameter theory is now considered as outdated for filter design owing to the existence of very efficient optimization procedures for the effective behaviour of filters. Nevertheless, it allows one to exhibit very simple relations between the bandwidth and the values of the components. Hence it is ideally suited for the problem of impedance broiband matching where the bandwidth and some components are specified data. It is shown that it allows to make a straightforward distinction between well‐ and ill‐conditioned problems. In the first case the problem is reduced to a one‐dimensional optimization and an image parameter design provides very easily an equalizer optimal for all practical purposes. In the second case the values of the image parameter design provides excellent initial values for an optimization process.The method is applied here to the simplest problem, theRCload. In a separate paper it will be shown that it is easily extended to more complicated loads and the double‐matching

AbstractThe global dynamic behaviour of a three‐cell connected component detector CNN described by the template [‐s, p, s] is addressed. In the casep‐1>s>O the structure of the domains of attraction of the stable equilibria and the stable manifolds of the saddle points is represented by means of a suitable planar graph. In the cases>p‐ 1>O it is shown that five stable and two unstable limit cycles occur. It is proved that one of the stable cycles lies entirely on the planex1= ‐x3whereas the others have the property that the second cell works only in the linear part of the output characteristic. AbstractAs pressures increase on VLSI designers to use a lower supply voltage of 3.3 V rather than the present 5 V, currentmode signal‐processing techniques will surely become increasingly important and attractive. Numerous current copiers have been proposed. Among them, the copier with a negative feedback approach is the best candidate for low‐voltage current‐mode signal‐processing applications. However, the copier using a positive‐gain feedback amplifier achieves better accuracy at the cost of increasing circuit complexity and settling time. This paper presents an alternative circuit implementation of the negative feedback approach. the proposed current copier uses a negative‐gain feedback amplifier which can be easily realized by a simple circuitry with high accuracy and faster settling time. Simulation results show that with the simple digital CMOS process the proposed copier can be realized with only three transistors, achieves a dynamic range from 300 to 550 μA with an accuracy of 0.1% and can be settled within 3 ns with a power supply of 3.3 V.
