摘要:
AbstractAn algorithm is given for solving a set of underdetermined non‐linear functions where some or all unknown variables are confined within a certain interval. the functions must be described by piecewise linear models with virtually no restriction to the dimension of the functions or models. the algorithm is able to find all separate solution points of equations on well‐posed functions and can trace solution spaces, eventually composed of several disjunct branches, without any need for initial points. the presented methodology guarantees to find all solutions within a finite number of steps.In top‐down circuit design, at each level one must solve a set of underdetermined equations in such a way that the solution space, if non‐empty, is in agreement with solutions found earlier in the hierarchy. the presented algorithm can be used in such a hierarchical environment and guarantees to find all solutions at each level which are not in conflict with solutions found at higher

摘要:
AbstractA higher‐order diffusion model for a bipolar transistor has been developed. This model is based on the Padé approximation of the quasi‐static expansions of the base and collector currents and gives improved accuracy for the simulation of fast transients and periodic operation at high frequencies. the effect of higher‐order circuit elements on accuracy is demonstrated by calculating the transient response to a step excitation and by determining the scattering parameters of a transistor model with higher‐order elements linearized about an operating point. the higher‐order model is replaced by an equivalent circuit including only conventional elements, and the transient behaviour of these two models i

摘要:
AbstractThe primary goal of this paper is to solve some types of optimization problems whose objective functions and constraints are smooth and continuously differentiable and which are not suited for digital signal processing. the optimization problems are mapped into systems of first‐ and second‐order non‐linear ordinary differential equations and/or systems of difference equations. These systems of equations are simulated by appropriate switched‐capacitor (SC) circuits employing some neural network (neurobiological) principles. New switched‐capacitor architectures for on‐line solving of non‐linear optimization problems are proposed and their properties are investigated. Various circuit structures are investigated to find which are best suited for SC CMOS implementation. the structures developed exhibit a high degree of modularity, and a relatively small number of basic building blocks (computing cells) are required to implement effective and powerful optimization algorithms. Basic mathematical operations, e.g. multiplication, addition and non‐linear scaling transformation, are accomplished employing advanced SC techniques. the validity and performance of the circuit structures developed are illustrated by intensive computer simulations employing TUTSIM and
