摘要:
AbstractCritical Remarks on Tools for Process Revision. The revision of production processes is based on data, results and experience gained from a wide range of tools and instruments. It is therefore important to critically examine the limits and meaningfulness of these tools and instruments as they apply to process revision. Following a description of a normal revision procedure, the limits and meaningfulness of the information obtainable by modelling, experiment and full‐scale operation are discussed as a basis for process revision. Particular emphasis is placed on fundamental operational information obtained from production plant. In addition, tools specially developed for process revision are presented and evaluated. The common theme of these tools is the ability to provide improved material balances of operating processes. Some of the better known process evaluation tools are also considered. The main feature of these tools is the abstraction of the task of individual unit operations as a starting point for possible process improvement

AbstractSelected Problem Points in the Simulation and Design of Distillative Separation Processes. Thermodynamic simulation represents an important tool in the process engineering treatment of distillative separation processes. The degree of detail in the representation of the real process is orientated upon the question of the stage of process development at which thermodynamic simulation is utilized. For three examples of practical relevance it is shown that an improper representation of process reality in the simulation may lead to ambiguous and even false interpretations. In most cases problems arise when process‐relevant functions of single units are not incorporated adequately. 摘要:
AbstractUse of Pigging in the Chemical Industry. Use of piggable pipework systems can lead to dramatic savings in investment costs and to high efficiency of the installed pipework. Emptying and washing operations are no longer necessary. Moreover, losses of valuable raw materials and finished products are avoided, the contamination waste water needing treatment, and hence the environmental burden, is reduced. A small number of pipes suffices for transport of many different substances with a high degree of separation. Pipework systems with pigging equipment in regular operation remain free from deposits. Complete automation eliminates the possibility of operating errors. However, it should not be forgotten that such a system also generates operating and maintenance costs which vary according to product. A decision to introduce a pigging system must ultimately depend upon the economics and availability of the plant.
