摘要:
AbstractIn this article optimal supersaturation for cooling and evaporation crystallization are presented. This information is based on a simplified model which describes the metastable zone width of activated nucleation. The model assumes that the nucleation step is very fast and the occurrence of the shower of nuclei which is used to define the metastable zone width is caused by the growth of activated nuclei. In future new sensors for the measurement of supersaturation will help to operate batch crystallizers at the optimal supersaturation during the entire batch time.

AbstractModeling Precipitation with a Hydrodynamic ApproachParticle sizes produced by precipitation are of prime importance for subsequent process steps, and they depend on mechanisms hardly understood until now. In this paper a new approach to the understanding of particle formation by precipitation is given. The solid is formed in the microscopic „Kolmogorov vortices”︁ where molecular mixing occurs. Loose aggregates within the vortex are cemented together by newly formed solid, the maximal size of the resulting solid aggregates being limited by the size of the vortex. Numerical calculation of the number of aggregates within the vortices and of the resulting aggregate sizes is performed, using one constant arbitrary fitting parameter. AbstractPractically Relevant Simulation Tools for Multistep Batch ProcessesDuring the development and improvement of multistep batch processes, the description and optimum design of the material and temporal link‐up of the various units for reaction, isolation, and solvent work‐up is becoming increasingly demanding and requires software support. Distinguishing criteria are first derived for the various simulation tools and these are then supplemented with specific industrial demands placed on simulation tools for overall processes. The authors then provide an overview of commercially available programs above all for simulation of overall processes and report on their own experience. The potential of tools for simulation of overall processes lies not in the reduction of the number of experiments but in better utilisation of plant capacity by improved batch planning, in centralised data storage, in a largely standardised, simplified and consistent documentation, and hence simplified communicat
