AbstractTechnologies for the clean‐up of soil contamination and older burdens. Older burdens as a consequence of fast industrialization and soil contamination by leakage and accidents require fast clean‐up. Sealing measures and storage on disposal sites postpone solution of the problem to some day in the future. Thermal treatment and washing entail extensive earth‐moving operations. They have a high energy requirement and are expensive. Microbiological processes presently under development are expected to yield less expensive solutions. The degradation properties of soil microflora or specially cultured microorganisms are exploited for this purpose. AbstractComputer simulation. Modern simulation tools such as simulation languages, simulation systems, simulation environments, and expert systems support the user in solving complex simulation problems. Partial problems to be solved are the mathematical modelling of the system under consideration, the selection and application of numerical methods, the programming of the simulation problem, and the execution of simulator experiments. 摘要:
AbstractDevelopment of the Pauling process for regeneration of spent sulphuric acid. The Pauling rectification process has proved a successful method of regenerating spent sulphuric acid. The further development of the process in the last ten years has included the production of cast iron materials with improved corrosion resistance for use in the boiling vessels. Other development work concerns the operation of the stirrers and the apparatus, the construction of stripping columns, and the introduction of new types of cooling equipment for the hot concentrated sulphuric acid. Furthermore, the scrubbing of the exhaust gases leaving the Pauling apparatus must be adapted to more stringent demands, also with regard to the increasingly varied composition of the spent acids.

摘要:
AbstractStudies of the microstructure of porous solids by physisorption measurements. The principal experimental methods for studying the microstructure of porous solids are based on physisorption measurements. The resulting sorption isotherms can yield data such as surface area and pore radius distribution, which are of great importance for development and characterization of porous catalysts. After a brief presentation of available measuring equipment, the main concern of this survey is the evaluation of sorption isotherms. In particular, methods for determining the micropore contribution to the total pore volume and the pore radius distribution in the micropore range are examined critically with regard to their reliability.
