摘要:
The blood of 347 Indonesians and 88 Indonesian-Chinese was examined for erythrocyte phosphoglucomutase by starch gel electrophoresis followed by specific staining. The gene frequencies in the Indonesian group were PGM1 0.765, PGM2 0.232, PGMβ 0.0014, and PGM7 0.0014. In the Indonesian-Chinese-group they were: PGM1 0.761, PGM2 0.216, PGM6 0.0114, and PGM7 0.0114. In 357 Indonesians and 87 Indonesian-Chinese examined for carbonic anhydrase, the variant CA Ic was found twice in Indonesians, none in Indonesian-Chinese. There were no proven genetic abnormalities in the catalase electrophoretic pattern, but a change in electrophoretic mobility due to artificial factors was observed several times

摘要:
During more than 9,000 Gm(a)-type determinations with two Ragg anti-Gm(a) sera, ‘1604’ and ‘Esra’ 4 Gm(a+) sera failed to inhibit ‘1604’. ‘1604’ reacted with coats capable of Gm(a), (x), and (z) typing, not with coats for Gm(f), (b), and (g) typing. Absorption of’1604’ with erythrocytes coated with anti-D sera for Gm (f), (b), and (g) typing did not remove the agglutinating capability against coats for Gm(a) typing. Red cells coated with the anti-D employed, ‘07’, failed to react with anti-Gm(f), (b), and (g) reagents. A family investigation, including Gm(n), (z), (a), (x), (g), (f), (b1), and (b3) typing, showed the antigen detected by ‘1604’ to be inherited in the same way as the (other) Gm factors. It is concluded that ‘1604’ demonstrates an inheritable Gm factor, present in almost all Gm(a+) sera, carried by the same molecules as Gm(a), (x), and (z), and not identical with any known Gm factor. Considering the close association between Gm(a) and this new factor, and the obvious resemblance with the relations between the corresponding Gm(b) factors in Caucasians, the symbols Gm(a°) and GmΔa1) are provisionally used for Gm(a) proper and

摘要:
The results of blood, serum, and enzyme group typings on a sample of 295 unrelated Irish males aged from 20–30 are reported. The gene frequencies concerning the polymorphisms MNS, Rh, Kell, Hp, Gc, Gm, Inv, red cell acid phosphatases and adenylate kinase do not differ obviously from those of other European populations. On the other hand our Irish sample differs regarding the gene frequencies of the ABO, P, Duffy, and PGMr polymorphisms, and in the frequencies of the alkaline serum phosphatase phenotypes. Finally, the gene distribution of the Irish seems to be more similar to those of the Icelanders as compared to other European
