摘要:
AbstractThe addition of ethyl mercaptan to 1‐ethoxy‐3‐methylbut‐1‐yn‐3‐ol (V) under the influence of peroxides yielded 1‐ethoxy‐2‐ethylmercaptobut‐1‐ene‐3‐ol (VI) in high yield (reaction scheme A). This substance could be rearranged to 2‐ethylmercapto‐3‐methylcrotonaldehyde (VII) (reaction scheme B). The same reaction took place with other mercaptans. The addition of ethyl mercaptan to 1‐(1‐hydroxycyclohexyl)‐2‐ethoxyethyne (XV) and 1‐(1‐hydroxycyclopentyl)‐2‐ethoxyethyne (XVI) under the same conditions yielded 2‐cyclohexylidene‐2‐ethylmercaptoacetaldehyde (XVIII) and 2‐cyclopentylidene‐2‐ethylmercaptoacetaldehyde (XXII) after rearrangement (reaction scheme D).Other thioenol ether compounds were prepared (reaction schemes C and D) starting from the aldehydes VII, XVIII and XXII.Addition of thiobenzoic acid to 1‐ethoxy‐3‐methylbut‐1‐yn‐3‐ol (V) proceeded by a different (probably ionic) mechanism and yielded ‐ after re

摘要:
AbstractThe rate of the reaction between thiosulphate and bromoacetate in very dilute aqueous solutions has been redetermined. The variation of the rate constant with the ionic strength of the solution can be predicted from the “activated complex” theory combined with the Debye‐Hückel limiting law. In the concentration range where the latter is valid our data are in agreement with the theoretical relationship and with the most plausible reaction mec

摘要:
AbstractEthoxyethynylcarbinols, which can be prepared from carbonyl compounds and metallic derivatives of ethoxyacetylene, react with amines in three different ways.Strongly basic amines like diethylamine mainly cause reaction A, dissociation of the carbinol into the carbonyl compound from which the carbinol was derived, and ethoxyacetylene (which reacts further with the amine used). Very weakly basic aromatic amines likep‐nitroaniline catalyze the rearrangement into α,β‐unsaturated esters (reaction B), whereas aromatic amines like aniline yield amides of β‐hydroxy‐acids with evolution of ethylene (r

摘要:
AbstractThe reaction of aldehydes with ethoxyethynylmagnesium bromide does not yield the expected secondary carbinols. In the case of aromatic aldehydes the reaction products are formed from two molecules of the aldehyde and one molecule of the acetylenic compound. The structures of these compounds have been established by several transformations (see reaction scheme I) and the chemistry of their formation has been studied (reaction scheme II).Aliphatic aldehydes and ethoxyethynylmagnesium bromide give products derived from three molecules of the aldehyde and one of the acetylenic compound. In this case also the structures of the different transformation products have been investigated (reaction scheme III).

摘要:
AbstractAn exact spectrophotometric method has been devised for the evaluation of stability constants of metal complexes. This method is developed for complex‐formation in two steps and is especially useful when complex‐formation occurs in acid solutions where the conventional Calvin‐Bjerrum titration method becomes inaccurate. Knowledge of the extinction coefficients of the different species in the solution is necessary. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of stability constants of the complexes of 8‐hydroxyquinoline and 8‐hydroxyquinoline‐5‐sulphonic acid with copper in ethanol/water mixtures. The conditions are examined which must be satisfied in order to obtain accurate results by this method [equations (

摘要:
AbstractSecondary ethoxyethynylcarbinols cannot be obtained from aldehydes and ethoxyethynylmagnesium bromide. The substances can be prepared, however, by interaction of the aldehydes with ethoxyethynyl‐lithium. The secondary carbinols are rearranged to α,β‐unsaturated esters by

摘要:
AbstractThe stability constants for the formation of copper complexes of N‐dimethyl‐, diethyl‐, di‐n‐propyl‐, di‐n‐butyl‐,cyclotetramethylene‐, andcyclopentamethylene‐dithiocarbamic acids were measured spectrophotometrically in a 75 % ethanol/water mixture by a competition method using 8‐hydroxyquinoline as the third component. This method was especially developed for the evaluation of stability constants in the presence of “mixed” complexes, containing both hydroxyquinoline

摘要:
AbstractBy the interaction of 1,1‐diazido‐1‐ethoxyethane, II, and ammonia, acetamidinium azide, III, was obtained. The same substance was formed by catalytic reduction of II. Withn‐butylamine, II yielded N,N′‐di‐n‐butylacetamidinium azide, IV. The reaction of II with diethylamine was slow and yielded no identifiable derivatives of II. Triethylamine did not react with II.Diphenylamine and II yielded N‐acetyldiphenylamine, V, ethylazide, VI, and 1‐azido‐1‐ethoxyethane, VII, which was obtained also from ethyl vinyl e

摘要:
AbstractThe reaction ofp‐cymene withtert.amyl alcohol, which yields indans, has been extended to other alcohols and homologues of cymene. It has been found that straight chain secondary alcohols yield substituted cymenes, but secondary alcohols containing a tertiary carbon atom, and tertiary alcohols, yield polyalkylindans. Under the conditions of the reaction cumene does not yield indan
