AbstractThe heats of adsorption of hydrogen on several Ni‐SiO2catalysts were determined from the dependence of the amounts adsorbed on the pressure and the temperature. Three systems were investigated: a sample obtained by reduction of an imperfectly crystallized Ni‐montmorillonite, a coprecipitate and an impregnation catalyst. The three systems were only found to differ in the total amounts of hydrogen adsorbed. AbstractThe Raman frequencies of liquid selenophene are communicated here. The infrared absorption bands of liquid selenophene have been determined in the region 1600‐670 cm−1mainly, using a Perkin Elmer instrument with a rock salt prism and by Dr.Lecomtein Paris for the lower frequency region (about 390‐600 cm−1), making use of a grating spectrometer. Quantitative depolarization ratios were determined for the not too weak Raman lines.Selenophene has a non‐planar configuration with only one symmetry plane remaining (symmetry C15). AbstractThe fusing point diagram of NOCl with AlCl3has been investigated.The curves show a well defined maximum at a composition of1mole of NOCl and 1 mole of AlCl3. The congruent melting point of the compound NOCl · AlCl3has been determined as 180° C. In high vacuum this compound can be sublimed almost undecomposed.Another compound with an incongruent melting point has been found. containing 2 moles of NOCl and 1 mole of AlCl3(transformation point 17.5° C).Moreover there exists a two liquid layer region extending from about 84 mole % of AlCl3to about 99 mole % of AlCl3. AbstractThe binary freezing‐point diagrams of SeCl4AlCl3and TeCl4AlCl3were determined. Both systems show a dissociating compound in a molecular ratio 1: 1 with melting points of 163.8° C resp. 149.3° C.In the case of the binary system SeCl4AlCl3only one half of the system, with AlCl3in excess, could be determined because of the decomposition of SeCl4at higher temperatures.
