摘要:
AbstractRaoult's law for dilute solutions is derived theoretically from a model of the liquid state by the use of statistical mechanics. This method seems to be better adapted to the problem than Planck's method. It is shown that the decrease of the molecular potential of the solvent is caused by the fact that the number of configurations of the mixture contains factors originating from the solute molecules and proportional to the number of solvent molecules. When every solute molecule contributes one such factor, the mixture obeys Raoult's law in great dilution.

AbstractBy means of the determination of the true densities in helium and the apparent densities in air, hydrogen, benzene and water of some samples of wool, the dyeing process of wool with acid and basic dyes and the felting process of wool are studied, and some conclusions with regard to these processes are drawn.Moreover the sorptive capacities of wool for air and hydrogen are calculated, and the nature of these sorption phenomena is discussed.

AbstractUpon shaking αβ‐diacyl‐γ‐tritylglycerols in alcoholic solution with hydrogen in the presence of palladium on active carbon as a catalyst, hydrogen is taken up and the corresponding αβ‐diglycerides together with triphenylmethane are formed. However, when platinum oxide is used as a catalyst, no hydrogenation takes place, but deacylation. For example, αβ‐dibenzoyl‐γ‐tritylglycerol can be converted quantitatively into ethyl benzoate and α‐monotritylglycerol.The same contrast between the two catalysts was observed in the case of the β‐acyl‐αγ‐benzylideneglycerols. Upon shaking these compounds in alcoholic solution with hydrogen in the presence of palladium on active carbon, hydrogen is taken up and the corresponding β‐monoglycerides are formed in addition to toluene. When platinum oxide is used as a catalyst, however, a quantitative deacylation takes place; β‐stearyl‐αγ‐benzylideneglycerol, for example, can be converted into ethyl stearate and αγ‐benzylideneglycerol.This new method of deacylation is discussed in detail. The reaction takes place at least as smoothly when the substance, in alcoholic solution, is shaken in air with platinum oxid
