摘要:
The type of application, the application range, and the dosage of a medical ozone/oxygen mixture (prepared from the purest oxygen and used in a concentration between 1 and 100 g/mL) have been derived principally from its employment in the preparation of drinking water and the regeneration of liquid waste. This is in the light of its bactericidal and fungicidal properties – which in the clinical field also comes under the heading of disinfection – in addition to the virucidal and thus the overall sterilizing property of ozone. Furthermore, within the biological system, different properties become manifest which may be summarized as its positive effect on blood circulation, and as expressed by an activation of oxygen transportation mechanisms and an improvement of active biological oxygen utilization.

A laboratory study was conducted into the effects of the treatment of activated sludge effluent with different oxidants on the biodegradability of the organic substances. It was found that, under the experimental conditions described, ozone increased the biodegradability, whereas chlorine had no apparent significant effect. The effect of continuous oxidative pretreataent of activated sludge effluent on microbial populations and the biological activated carbon used subsequently in the process also was studied. It was found that ozone, particularly at a dosage of about 5 mg/L promoted biological activity, while chlorine and oxygen (in addition to the dissolved oxygen already in the effluent) had no significant effect on the biological population size.

摘要:
For a fixed value of the reduced electrical field, the economical operation of a cold plasma reactor generating ozone is determined by a particular value of the energy supplied by the field per molecule of reactant. Evidences are given in the ozone formation from air and oxygen. Moreover, influence of the flow and reduced electrical field upon the production is emphasized.

摘要:
Where bromide ion is found in water used as a source of drinking water, and chlorination is used for disinfection, bromide ion is oxidized to bromine and can result in the formation of organic bromine compounds. There are presently no treatment techniques available for economic removal of bromide ion. A potential treatment strategy is to use an alternative oxidant; ozone is one such alternative. This review presents the reactions of ozone and bromide ion. Understanding of these reactions leads to possible treatment strategies when ozone is used, in the presence of bromide ion, to minimize the formation of trihalomethanes.

After reviewing the uses of ozone in the preparation of drinking water, high purity water for Pharmaceuticals industries, and swimming pools throughout Belgium, a discussion of technological developments made at the Tailfer plant (serving Brussels) concerning the uses of ozone is presented. These subjects include analytical and monitoring techniques developed for ozone, procedures for ozone contacting employed at this plant, treatment of ozone contactor off–gases, and the use of oxygen–enriched process gas to produce supplemental amounts of ozone required periodically. Capital and operating cost data are presented.
