摘要:
Air stripping towers have been recommended for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in drinking water supply and industrial waste treatment systems. This technique removes VOCs economically in the liquid phase. It can, however, create adverse secondary environmental impacts by removing VOCs from the water and discharging them to the air.

摘要:
Industrial ozone generation uses a special high pressure, low temperature electrical discharge which is referred to as the dielectric barrier discharge or silent discharge. The filamentary structure of this discharge and the properties of individual microdischarges are discussed. The main reaction paths for the excited atomic and molecular species in oxygen and air are identified. Possible approaches to obtain high power densities, high ozone generating efficiencies or high ozone concentrations are discussed.

摘要:
Literary and experimental data on the ozonation kinetics of aqueous solutions and wastewater were analyzed. COD was suggested to be used as a kinetic parameter from the solution side. On the basis of the results obtained from the ozonation of model solutions and wastewater, the rate coefficient by COD of the reaction was shown to be constant during separate stages of the process. Due to the consumption of fast-reacting components and entering into the reaction of more slowly reacting intermediate products, the rate coefficient changed spasmodically with transition from one stage to another. The reaction order with respect to the COD of the solution was shown to be equal to the reaction order with respect to the pure component.

In the fields of application of ozone plants produced by the German ozone industry, the treatment of pool water is foremost. Especially the precursors of the chlorine-nitrogen compounds (combined chlorine) and the chlorine-carbon compounds (haloforms) which, for reasons of health, are reckoned among the undesirable substances in pool water, can be considerably reduced through the use of ozone during pool water treatment. The efficiency of the treatment processes depends substantially on the reaction period of the ozone with the pool water contaminants, as is shown by tests with new processes having long ozone contact periods.

摘要:
Laboratory work has shown that a gas scrubber using UV/ozone as the oxidant was effective in destroying model compounds, and that the UV radiation was better applied in the sump liquor rather than in the spray section. A field trial on a plant making selective weed killers has demonstrated that the technique was able to reduce the concentration of malodorants (mainly chlorophenols) by two to three orders of magnitude in a single pass.
