摘要:
Five parallel ozone and activated carbon systems were compared for their effectiveness in treating unchlorinated effluent from the Denver Metropolitan Sewage Disposal District No. 1 wastewater facility. Data were gathered over four months of continuous operation. The objective of the study was to assess the potential for enhanced carbon column performance through the use of ozone.

摘要:
Ozone reacts with various halogen compounds (chlorine, chloramines , bromine , and bromide) which may be present in water. Chlorine produces Cl−and ClO−3; chloramines produce NO−3and Cl−. Bromide produces bromine , which acts as a secondary disinfectant, but can generate haloforms and interfere in O3determinations. Brominepartly regenerates Br causing a catalytic destruction of O3. The kinetics of these reactions are described and interpreted with respect to their importance in water treatment.

摘要:
The ozonation of nitrobenzene in aqueous solution is investigated by determining COD removal, ozone consumption and product distribution at different degrees of ozonation. Results reveal that complete nitro benzene elimination is achieved at relatively short ozonation times, with no appreciable accumulation of unsaturated intermediates.Oxida–tive consumption of about 2.5 oxygen atoms per mole of absorbed ozone is observed in this ozonation stage. Much longer ozonation times are required to reach complete oxidation of intermediates to oxalic acid and carbon dioxide, with an oxidative consumption corresponding to 1.8 oxygen atoms per mole of absorbed ozone. A reaction scheme is proposed on the basis of the observed product distribution.

摘要:
The operating voltage of a conventional concentric-tube type ozonizer is usually limited by the appearance of a spark phenomenon. This results from the concentration of electrostatic charges caused by the point effect at the level where the inner metal coating of the glass dielectric tube stops, this foil being connected to the alternating high voltage source.

摘要:
ABSTRACT: Center, type and underline Abstract heading, capitalizing the first letter. A double-space should separate the heading from the abstract text. Indent approximately 1/2 inch (13 mm) from both left and right margins for typing the abstract. The abstract should be approximately 50 to 70 words in length. It should be factual and contain the main results and conclusions of the paper. It should be intelligible to the reader without reference to the body of the paper and be suitable for reproduction by abstracting services. Introduction to the text (without a heading) should begin two spaces below the abstract using full margins.
