摘要:
Since publications concerning theeffect ofozone on biological treatments are contradictory, increasing biodegradation on the onehand, effect of “stress” on bacteria ontheother, we have selected two compounds which are eliminated only by biodegradation: cyanides andammonium ions. Thestudyhas shown that ozone retards their biodegradation significantly.

摘要:
The elimination of contaminants in pool water through the “ozone – activated carbon process” is done stepwise. Sieving, flocculation and filtration steps are followed by ozonation. According to the German standards for the Treatment of Swimming Pool Water, the toxic ozone has to be removed from the water by filtration through an activated carbon layer before the water is brought back into the swimming pool. The treatment step is followed by chlorination for disinfection. In the ozone process described and in most of its modifications the time available for the reaction of the ozone is very short, usually 1.5 up to 3 min. First results with ozonation of model compounds, such as urea, creatinine, amino acids, etc., have shown–that the reaction rates are rather slow. Consequently, a longer reaction time leads to an improved decontamination of the swimming pool water. The efficiency of the ozonation process with longer reaction times followed by slower filtration has been proven in a research project, e.g. by experiments with the so–called “Ozone Combi BlockR– Process”. The potassium permanganate consumption and the combined chlorine as well as the formation potential of haloforms can be reduced effectively by elongated contact timeof ozone.

摘要:
This study shows the impact of preozonation on the granulometric distribution of materials in suspension. Raw and ozonized waters have been analyzed bya laser granulometer. Analysis of the granulometric distribution of Seine river water has established that the suspended materials are constituted of four Gaussian populations and makes evident the codifications caused by the ozone on this granulometry as well ason the particulate organic carbon.

摘要:
Two different generators for ozone were tested, a traditional electrical discharge generator and a generator based upon UV–irradiation of air at 150–180 nm. It was demonstrated that the traditional generator gave slightly higher reductions in levels of color for equivalent ozone dosages. Both gases affected the molecular weight distribution in the way that the bigger molecules were broken down to smaller ones. No significant difference between the molecular weight reduction efficiency of the gases was found.

摘要:
The particularly powerful means supplied by commercial microcomputers made it possible to build this two–stage ozonation plant designed to ensure the chemical demand in oxidizing agent ofthe water in a first step and the viricidal action of this oxidizing agent ina second step. This plant was designed with one single ozone production unit and for quite variable flows of water tobe treated. Now, because such means are available, it is impossible to separate the design of acomplex ozonation plant from that of its automatic control system in particular since one cannot be looking for an economical and reliable system without conducting an overall analysis of the problem.
