摘要:
This paper presents a new device for the dosage of ozone in the gas phase. This device measures the concentration of ozone according to the isothermal differential pressure procedure. In principle, this procedure achieves a totally physical ozone measurement without requiring calibration using a chemical method. A comparison is made between the physical results and chemical results obtained by the iodometric standard method (IOA, 1987). There is satisfactory agreement between the two series of measurements in the range of ozone concentration where the chemical method is applicable (with a standard error of estimate of 4.4%).The method and the device are perfectly reliable based upon the strict measurements of temperature and pressure and a convenient choice of constitutive materials.

摘要:
Ozone currently is being used in several drinking water treatment plants in Yugoslavia. The new Belgrade water treatment plant “Makis” is the largest one with 42 kg/h of installed ozone generating capacity and has been in operation since 1987. This paper describes the main features of ozone application in drinking water treatment. The experimental results of “Makis” pilot-plant investigations and a few examples of ozone application in Yugoslavia are presented.

Common processes in potable water treatment regarding dissolved organics removal (natural organic matter, NOM, and organic micropollutants, OMP) include oxidation techniques – like ozonation -and adsorption onto granular activated carbon (GAC). This paper deals with combined ozonation and GAC filtration. Effects on water quality are discussed: partial oxidation of dissolved organics by ozone, leading to changing adsorption behavior and enhanced biodegradation in GAC columns. Special emphasis is laid on long term effects of ozone on GAC quality after several thermal reactivations. Long term experience indicates that ozonation prior to GAC filtration, leading to moderate ozone concentrations in the GAC influent, does not influence GAC quality negatively, even after more than ten reactivation cycles.

摘要:
Ozone generating systems have to meet many requirements, such as reliability, low energy consumption, compatibility with process automation, simplicity of yield regulation and ease of service, while presenting a good power factor and current waveform to supply the network. This paper presents the electrical supplying systems for ozone generators, especially those with magnetic frequency multipliers. The systems presented very well fulfill the ozone generator's requirements.

Formaldehyde (FA) and FA formed by boiling are metabolic products and biodegradable (Yamada et al., 1991). However, it is important to understand the potential amount of FA in drinking water. Laboratory studies were conducted from February, 1989 to May 1990 to evaluate the effects of ozonation on the formation of FA in surface water. FA in chlorinated tap waters also was analyzed. FA in regular tap water and the FA in tap water which was boiled ranged from 0 to 25.8 μg/L and from 18.0 to 73.5 μg/L, respectively. In surface water, the concentrations of FA and FA formed by boiling ranged from 0 to 24.0 μg/L and from 1.5 to 88.0 μg/L, respectively. After ozonation (ozone at 5 mg O3/L applied for 5 min) of the surface water, the range increased from 10.0 – 110 μg/L and 21.0 - 243 μg/L, respectively. In a clinical four-week study, the effect of ozone water was examined exclusively or in combination with professional measures of oral hygiene. A test group with a usual home-care habit of exercising oral hygiene and another group whose teeth were professionally cleaned were taken as control groups. Follow-up examinations were carried out after another four weeks.

摘要:
The process of ozonation of 2-hydroxypyridine in aqueous solution at pH = 5 is studied in a semi-batch reactor. The evolution of the system is followed by means of instrumental and chemical analyses performed on samples withdrawn from the reactor at different reaction times. In order to distinguish between radical and direct ozonation mechanisms, some experiments are performed with the addition of radical scavenger (tert.-BuOH) to the reacting solution. A reaction scheme is given for explaining the formation of the main intermediates and products.
