摘要:
A preozonation study has been done at the potable water treatment plant of Moulle, in the North of France. The water is particularly rich in organic matter, with also algal blooms every, year, so the coagulan t treatmen t dose which is necessary for an optimal treatment, is very high. Previous laboratory tests have shown the importance of a preoxidation step, before the coagulation–flocculation–sedimentation industrial treatment line. It is also well known that flotation permits a significant reduction of coagulant dose. In addition, prechlorination of a water containing a large amount of organic matter induces the formation of a relatively high concentration of haloforms.

摘要:
The “microflocculation” effect of ozone in water treatment has received lately more interest, despite some lack of knowledge about the basic mechanisms and reactions. Practical studies at a direct filtration plant with preozonations show the advantages of ozone as coagulant at low dosages (1–2 mg/1) in improving filtrate quality and extending filter run times.

摘要:
The kinetics of ozone decomposition in water were determined experimentally over a pH range of 0.45 to 10.2 and temperature range of 3.5 to 60°C in a batch reactor. These data were analyzed and compared with th e reanalyzed data from other investigators.

摘要:
The Village of Potsdam, in northern New York State, is presently building a new water treatment plant. The Village takes its water from the Raquette River. The 2.6 MGD water plant will feature ozonation as a pretreatment to coagulation, sedimentation and filtration. Raquette River water has a high trihalomethane formation potential, due to naturally-occurring organic substances. Ozonation provides a means for predisinfection without formation of trihalomethanes. The anticipated ozone dosage is 2.5 milligrams per liter sufficient ozone to impart aslight residual. Coagulation will be accomplished using aluminum sulfate and sodium alumnate. A nonionic polyelectrolyte will be used as a flocculant aid. The filter media will be Neptune-Microfloc Corp. MF 186. This treatment system was pilot plant tested with excellent results. Trihalomethane Maximum Formation Potential (MTP) was lowered by 67‰, from 353 micrograms per liter to 116 micrograms per liter. Construction contracts for the new plant, scheduled for completion the summer of 1983, tota l $4,443,000.

摘要:
ABSTRACT: Center, type and underline Abstract heading, capitalizing the first letter. A double-space should separate the heading from the abstract text. Indent approximately 1/2 inch (13 mm) from both left and right margins for typing the abstract. The abstract should be approximately 50 to 70 words in length. It should be factual and contain the main results and conclusions of the paper. It should be intelligible to the reader without reference to the body of the paper and be suitable for reproduction by abstracting services. Introduction to the text (without a heading) should begin two spaces below the abstract using full margins.
