摘要:
Preozonation of biologically or physically–chemically treated wastewater effluents, followed by passage through granular activated carbon (GAC) for tertiary wastewater treatment was studied at the Duck Creek Wastewater Treatment in Garland, Texas. Whereas the average period of operation for the GAC before exhaustion without ozone pretreatment was 70 days, pretreatment with ozone or with oxygen alone extended GAC operation to at least 480 days, withoutexhaus–tion. Effluent streams consistently metapplicable discharge standards during this period of time, without the necessity of regenerating the GAC.

摘要:
A new anti-biofouling ozone system which intermittently supplies high-concentration ozone was demonstrated to be effective for preventing marine biofouling in test cooling tubes (titanium, aluminum brass and epoxy-coated PVC) simulating condenser and intake conduit systems of power plants. Injection of ozone of about 5 mg/L for five minutes once each day was enough to keep them clean. Corrosion of titanium and aluminum brass tubes after the three-month test was found tobe negligible.

摘要:
This paper describes the singular and composite effects of two catalysts; ultraviolet (UV) light and ultrasound (US) on the ozone (O3) oxidation of a purified solution of a commercially available humic acid with the objective of minimizing trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP). The principal findings are that (1) the most effective reactor conditions for both thedestruction of nonvolatile total organic carbon (NVTOC) and THMFP utilized both US and UV in combination with ozon, and (2) bicarbonate alkalinity reduces the oxidation efficiency of the US–UV–O3system apparently asa consequence ofradical scavenging.

The efficiency of ozone for different purposes can be determined by different laboratory tests. It is necessary to use a specific test for each aim of ozonation. Consequently, the design of commercial ozone–water contact systems can be determined in relation with the purpose of ozonation: virucide effect, oxidation of pollutant, clarification improvement or wastewater disinfection.

摘要:
A fully automated system is controlling a two-stage ozonation system treating 140 × 103m3/h (6.4 mgd) of potable water in a full-scale water treatment plant. A supervisory computer has a data communications path to each of six ozone generators and a direct link to the ozone destruct system. Total ozone requirement is calculated, the most power-efficient equipment configuration is selectedt and the flow of ozone to each contactor is controlled. Inaddition, graphic display ofequipment status and process variables is provided system events are logged, and strip charts and reports are produced.
