摘要:
AbstractThis work is concerned with the automatic control of biotechnological processes, in particular the regulation of a biomass concentration inside a continuous fermentation process. To overcome the difficulties often encountered with classical regulators, we use adaptive scheme techniques. We give a predictive control scheme using on‐line estimation of the specific growth rate (considered as a time‐varying parameter) which takes into account the feed effect on this parameter and calculate the dilution rate at each s

摘要:
AbstractAn adaptive blood pressure control system based on the long‐range or finite‐time‐horizon prediction strategy known as generalized predictive control has been examined. The system was designed to run as a real‐time, multitasking operating system providing real‐time monitoring and control of mean arterial pressure. The ability to control in the presence of constraints was also incorporated into the system. Results from both unconstrained and constrained control runs were obtained from experiments on aneasthetized dogs. The problems caused by model‐plant mismatch, varying time delays and non‐linearity were handled satisfactorily by the system. The disturbance rejection of the constrained algorithm is better than the unconstrained one. The results demonstrate the applicability of both the constrained and unconstrained generalized predictive control algorithm for regulation of mean arte

摘要:
AbstractTemperature control inside the probe of an NMR spectrometer is dealt with. First a simple model of the system is derived by means of step response experiments. Then four control algorithms are implemented and compared. Specifically, a PID regulator is first synthesized and applied to the real plant. Then, in order to cope with the non‐linearity of the plant, two adaptive predictive control algorithms are implemented, namely the generalized predictive control and the constrained receding horizon predictive control algorithms. They both show superior performance with respect to PID for control of a simulated plant model and of the real plant. Finally a feasibility study is carried out for a fuzzy controller; its unsatisfactory behaviour in simulation prevents one from applying it to the plan

摘要:
AbstractThe theory of implicit models, introduced in previous papers, is used here in order to define a new adaptive control algorithm based on eitherm‐step‐ahead or infinite horizon LQ optimization and on recursive least squares identification techniques in the presence of systems having an ARMAX structure. The adaptive algorithm is based on the identification of a single ARX implicit model, which is defined as a model capable of representing the system input‐output behaviour correctly only in certain closed‐loop conditions. It is shown that, by properly structuring the algorithm, a single whitening (i.e. yielding a white residual sequence) possible convergence point exists coinciding with the optimal control law. Simple conditions assuring that a generic convergence point coincides with the above one are also provided, as well as preliminary simulation exp
