Resonance integral calculations are done for232Th infinite dilute,232Th metal rod, and232Th02rod systems. Doppler effect calculations are performed for232Th02rod systems for temperatures up to 2000°K. The resolved resonance integral for rod systems at each temperature is evaluated by Monte Carlo calculations and the resonance overlap effect between the two resonances of Th at 21.78 and 23.45 eV is taken into account. The unresolveds- andp-wave contributions were computed by standard methods.The data describing the resolved resonance parameters up to 3 keV (гγ= 25.9 meV) recommended in BNL-325 (Supplement No. 2, 1965) are used in these calculations. Thep-wave strength function in the unresolved energy range is taken to be 1.83 x 10-4(eV)-1/2.The calculated resonance integrals and Doppler coefficients are compared with measurements and they are found to be in excellent agreement with each other.

摘要:
The Wiener-Hopf factorization method has been applied to the energy-dependent Milne problem with simple separable isotropic kernel and absorption of 1/vntype. Extensive numerical calculations for free gas scattering cross sections have been performed and their partial results are presented. Discussion of these results, namely the critical absorption coefficients, discrete space eigenvalues, extrapolation distances, and emergent neutron distributions confirm the earlier assertion of Williams that critical absorption as well as asymptotic spatial parameters depend rather weakly upon the energy exchange mechanism, being more sensitive to the energy dependence of the mean free path. Nelkinapos;s model for water has also been studied, in the form of a separable kernel. The critical absorption as well as discrete spatial eigenvalues for this case appear to be in good agreement with values obtained by Honeck for the full isotropic Nelkin kernel.

摘要:
A systematic procedure is presented for calculating the least stable condition in a reactor system that can occur within the uncertainty range on system parameters. This uncertainty range is due to the impossibility of perfectly predicting design parameters and the effect of aging of the system on these parameters. The method uses the linear approximation to the system dynamics equations and a steepest ascent extremum-seeking procedure. The procedure can also be reversed to determine design changes needed to give greater system stability. The applicability of the method for solving practical reactor problems has been demonstrated in an analysis of the Molten Salt Reactor Experiment using a computer program developed to implement the method. In this paper, the method is illustrated with a small sample problem.
