摘要:
AbstractAn experimental and theoretical study of the vibrational Raman intensities of propane in the gas phase is presented. The absolute scattering coefficients and depolarization ratios corresponding to clearly separated spectral zones (made up of one or more vibrational modes) have been measured. The absolute scattering coefficients and depolarization ratios for each normal vibrational mode have been determined theoretically using the hypothesis that bond polarizabilities are transferable. Ethane parameters from previous work and the vibrational eigenvectors deduced from a propane force field given in the literature were used to apply this hypothesis.

AbstractThe isotropic Raman spectrum of12CD4is presented in the range from 2101 to 2113 cm−1, thus covering the ν1(A1)Q‐branch and part of the ν2+ ν4(F1+F2)Q‐branch. Experimental results for the 2101‐2108 cm−1range were obtained using the ‘inverse Raman spectroscopy’ technique and have been published previously. New measurements in the 2108 cm−1‐2113 cm−1range were obtained using the very similar ‘stimulated Raman gain spectroscopy’ technique. In both spectra the resolution is limited by the Doppler width of the lines. Formally, only transitions to the upper state of the ν1band are allowed in isotropic Raman scattering, but strong resonances enhance transitions to the upper state of ν2+ ν4. An effective Hamiltonian which takes these resonances into account was used to interpret the spectra and led to the assignment of all significant lines. AbstractComparison of Raman spectra of octahedral Ru(pyridine)6(BF4)2with those of Ru(bipyridine)(pyridine)4(ClO4)2provides an opportunity to analyse the orientation of Ru(pyridine)6at silver over a wide potential range. At the more positive potentials, the Ru(pyridine)6appears to be bonded through two pyridine ligands, while at more negative potentials, the orientation is probablyC4ν, indicating bonding through one pyridine. Previously reported potential dependences of Raman scattering intensities show mobility of the complex on the electrode surface and probable conversion between these two orientations. Possibilities for further orientation changes at more positive and more negative potentials are obscured by electrode oxidation and complex desorption, respectively

AbstractThe gas‐phase Fourier transform infrared spectrum (4000‐400 cm−1) of chlorocyclopropane was recorded at a resolution of 0.5 cm−1. For the first time, gas‐phase Raman and solid‐phase infrared and Raman spectra were obtained for this molecule. Liquid‐phase Raman and infrared spectra were also recorded and, on the basis of all the data, a complete assignment of the 21 normal modes of vibration of chlorocyclopropane was made. AbstractFar infrared and Raman spectra of solid CH3F and CD3F have been recorded at 80 and 20 K. The lattice spectra of CD3F and the lattice Raman spectrum of CH3F are reported for the first time. Additional peaks have also been observed in the far infrared spectrum of solid CH3F. New splittings for the internal mode fundamentals for ν3, ν5and ν6are reported for both compounds, and also for ν2(CH3F) and ν4(CD3F). An assignment of the observed bands is proposed. The crystal structure has not been determined directly, but the spectroscopic evidence suggests that it is centrosymmetric with at least eight molecules in the primitive unit
