AbstractThe normal Raman spectrum (NRS), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIRS) and surface‐enhanced Raman spectrum (SERS) of the important insecticide and acaricide fluvalinate (C26H22ClF3N2O3) were recorded for the first time. The spectral data are discussed in terms of characteristic chemical group frequencies and bonds. The fingerprint regions of fluvalinate vibrations that are distinct in FTIRS are identified and presented with the different fingerprint frequencies that are only characteristic to NRS. The enhancement of the benzene ring‐breathing vibration of fluvalinate in SERS is a useful mode for trace analysis for residues of this pesticide at the subnanogram level. AbstractRoom‐temperature Raman spectra of LiRbSO4were studied as a function of pressure up to 170 kbar for two different orientations of the crystal. AbstractUnpolarized Raman spectra of RbLiSO4were obtained for pressures in the range 1 atm–9.5 GPa. Several modifications observed in the spectra were interpreted in terms of two‐phase transitions. The critical pressures for these transitions were determined at 2.5 and 5.5 GPa on increasing the pressure. AbstractRaman spectra of vapor, liquid and low‐temperature crystalline phases and infrared spectra of vapor and low‐temperature amorphous and crystalline phases of isopropylformate [HCOOCH(CH3)2] and of four of its isotopomers, DCOOCH(CH3)2, DCOOCH(CD3)2, HCOOCD(CD3)2and DCOOCD(CD3)2, are reported. The spectra indicate on dominant conformer in all the phases studied. In the vapor and liquid phases, however, indications are found for the presence of a small amount of a second conformer which is believed to have thes‐trsnester conformation. AbstractThe trisodium salt of 2‐(4‐sulphophenylazo)‐1,8‐dihydroxynaphthalene‐3,6‐disulphonic acid (SPADNS) was studied by Raman and surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) techniques. The Raman spectra of SPADNS powder and aqueous solution were investigated and an assignment of the Raman bands was made taking into account its infrared absorpiton spectrum. SPADNS tatomers, o‐hydroxyazo and o‐quinone hydrazone, are also discussed. Although the assignment is still preliminary owing to the complex structure of the SPADNS molecule, it provides useful information for SERS investigations of SPADNS in aqueous silver sol and on silve film. AbstractGood‐quality high‐TcYBa2Cu3O7−xthin films deposited by the laser ablation method were investigated by Raman spectrosocpy. The vibrational spectra of thin films of YBa2Cu3O7−xat various laser intensities and with different polarizations were measured.
