摘要:
Equations are derived for vapor transport within a constant flux layer of the atmosphere. The physical model is based on the Reynolds analogy for fully turbulent flow, so that vapor and momentum flux are assumed similar. The shear stress is deduced from analysis of the wind profile by means of equations available for non-neutral conditions. Empirical expressions are proposed using the friction velocity rather than the wind velocity at a given level in order to take account of the stability of the air.

摘要:
A pilot study in area-stream factor correlation was undertaken to develop analytical techniques to be used in a method to predict streamflow from rainfall on various drainage areas. Runoff volumes and a function which distributes these volumes to form a hydrograph were called stream factors. Area factors were those characteristics which describe the watershed itself. A descriptive and analytical relation between the two sets of factors provided the nucleus of a methodology to synthesize streamflow from any area which can be numerically described.

摘要:
Evapotranspiration rates determined from meteorological data by the Bowen ratio method were tested against rates obtained from weighing lysimeters. The tests were conducted on an irrigated field (73 by 92 meters), where the minimum fetch was 27 m. Air-temperature and vapor-pressure differences obtained as 15-minute averages at heights of from 5 to 40 cm above the crop surface were used to calculate evapotranspiration. The results indicate that the Bowen ratio method can be used successfully to determine the evaporative flux for short periods, which can be summed for longer periods. During daylight periods, the absolute errors were less that. 0.02 cal cm−2min−1(or ly min−1), while the relative errors were less than 5 percent.

摘要:
The theories of deposition of sediments in hydrological systems are investigated. Several possibilities for setting up heuristic schemes are presented. It is then also shown that sedimentation problems can be treated by means of statistical mechanics.

摘要:
The description of the downward movement of water during infiltration can be obtained by solving the partial differential equation that governs the unsaturated flow of water through soils. The problem of the redistribution of the water and prediction of moisture profiles after the infiltration has ceased cannot be solved (from a theoretical standpoint) with the present knowledge. This is due to the scanning curves in the relationship of pressure versus water content which, therefore, is not a unique function. Experimentally obtained soil-moisture profiles are presented. A discussion on the “field capacity” concept is also presented which is shown not to have any physical or mathematical justification. It is proposed that the “field capacity” concept should be replaced with the water content corresponding to the point of inflection (of the drying phase) of the pressure-water content curve. This value is a physical characteristic constant value for a given soil and is different for different soils according to the shape of their very significant pressure-water content curve.

摘要:
For needs of planning and design, data on rainfall duration-intensity-frequency relations are necessary. For this purpose, a network of recording raingages has to be designed. Czechoslovakia has a relatively very dense network with considerably lengthy records. Analysis of this network and particularly of parameters of a new formula for rain intensity-duration-frequency relation, abstracted from this network observations, show that in conditions of a mountainous terrain, no geographical pattern related to topographical characteristics can be evaluated to limit the density of the network.
