AbstractDie Infrarotspektroskopie ist in der organischen Analytik sowohl zur Bestimmung von funktionellen Gruppen als auch zur Identifizierung eine seit langem bewährte Methode. Eie Empfindlichkeit ist dann besonders hoch, wenn es sich um polare Verbindungen handelt. Eine der wenigen Ausnahmen davon machen die Carbonsäuren, wenn das Spektrum von der flüssigen oder festen Form aufgenommen wird. Infolge Dimerisierung innerhalb der Carboxylgruppe wird nahezu die Hälfte des für die Auswertung heranzuziehenden IR‐Bereiches durch diese Dimerenbande verdeckt und auch der übrige Teil des Spektrums in nur mäßiger Auflösung wiedergegeben. MI = Matrixisolation, FTIR = Fourier‐Transform‐IR‐Spektroskopie) in Form des Cryolect‐Systems von Mattson Instruments sind Tieftemperatur‐IR‐Spektren von Carbonsäuren in bisher nicht gekannter Auflösung erhältlich. Zwischen den einzelnen Carbonsäuren ergeben sich eine Reihe strukturspezifischer Kriterien für die eindeutige Identifizierung im Spurenbereich, ohne daß zuvor eine Derivatisier

AbstractDifferential scanning calorimetry and pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance were used in the estimation of crystallization kinetics of palm oil and modified palm oils. Differential scanning calorimetry was found to be more sensitive and could differentiate between crystallization during cooling and crystallization during isothermal conditions. AbstractEin Druckaufschlußverfahren zur Probenvorbereitung bei der atomabsorptiometrischen Bestimmung von Kupfer‐ und Eisenspuren in Streichfetten (Butter) wird beschrieben. Dabei kommt die Probe nur mit inerten Materialien (PTFE) in einem hermetisch geschlossenen System in Berührung. Die Wiederholbarkeit der Methode, beurteilt anhand des Variationskoeffizienten von 5 Parallelansätzen, beträgt für die Cu‐Bestimmung 7.13% und für Fe 8.56%. Zugesetztes Cu bzw. Fe wurde in beiden Fällen zu>95% wiedergefunden. Österreichische Butter (n = 128) enthält durchschnittlich 0.025 ppm Cu bzw. 0.167 ppm Fe, ermittelt nach der beschrieb

AbstractEquations were calculated of the standard curves for heparin assays by recalcification time and metachromatic methods, therefrom the correlation was deduced. Thus the assay of heparin became easier by using methchromatic method instead of recalcification time method that had difficulties and consumed longer time. Variation was observed in the results of the recalcification time assay due to differing kind of plasma. This handicap was overcome by using a standard plasma; thus the establishment of correlation became possible between the two methods.

AbstractAn experiment was conducted on twelve cows for six weeks. These animals were further divided into four groups each having three animals. The four treatments were concentrate mixture with green grass (T1), concentrate mixture without green grass (T2), ground‐nut cake with green grass (T3), and ground‐nut cake without green grass (T4). AbstractUntersucht wurde der Einfluß von üblichen Bodenpflegemitteln mit Selbstglanz‐ und/oder Reinigungswirkung auf die Gleitsicherheit. Die Untersuchungen ergaben: 1. Oberflächenglanz nach der Behandlung des Fußbodens zeigt keine wesentliche Korrelation mit der Gleitsicherheit. 2. Starke Klebrigkeit des Bodenpflegemittels ist der Gleitsicherheit nicht förderlich. 3. In trockenem Zustand erhöhen Pflegemittel in der Regel die Rutschhemmung des Bodens. 4. In nassem Zustand werden durch fast alle Pflegemittel die Reibzahlen im Vergleich zu unbehandelten Böden wesentlich mehr verringert. Diese Feststellung hat für die Praxis der Unfallverhütung groß

AbstractThe Iatroscan‐Chromarod system was used for qualitative and quantitative determination of the total surface waxes of sorghum grain. Grain pearling efficiency was evaluated by comparing the polar compounds extracted with hot benzene at different stages of pearling. Extracted waxes were used as a natural standard to compile a calibration curve for quantitative determinations. AbstractEnergy has become more and more expensive, imposing the necessity of analysing the energy flow through all the steps of technological processes systematically, thus leading to improved energy balance, while using some rationalizations. This paper presents two conceptual designs for heat recuperation, which can lead to considerable heat saving in the process of extraction and deodorisation of oils with minimal investment.
