AbstractAttempts to prepare cyclobutadiene, which is primarily of theoretical interest, or one of its derivatives have so far led only to products structurally closely related to tetramethylcyclobutadiene. It has not been possible to prepare the compound itself nor to establish unequivocally that it occurs as a reaction intermediate.

AbstractDerivatives of aziridine or ethylenimine are isomerized by acids, nucleophilic reagents, or pyrolysis. All of the isomerizations reported so far are ring‐opening reactions, predominantly involving cleavage of the carbon‐nitrogen bond of the ring, although a few isomerizations are known in which the carbon‐carbon bond of the ring is broken. Isomerization of appropriate aziridine derivatives provides useful synthetic pathways leading to heterocyclic systems such as oxazolines, imidazolines (and related systems), imidazolidinoes, thiazolines, pyrazolines, and triazolines. AbstractLike all basic dyes, azatrimethinecyanines possess a good dyeing affinity for acrylic fibers. Compounds with isolated nitrogen atoms in the trimethine chain show insufficient light fastness, whereas good to excellent fastness to light is displayed by compounds having neighboring nitrogen atoms in the chain. Thus, a working hypothesis stating that the light fastness of trimethinecyanines on acrylic fibers is improved by progressive replacement of methine groups by nitrogen atoms has been partially confirmed.

AbstractMaturation of sperm and ovum are not autonomous processes. Rather, germ cell activity is controlled by a regulatory center in the hypothalamus. This assures germ cell maturation, fertilization, and development of the fetus until birth. Command, functional release, and feedback take place by humoral paths which involve gonadotropin releasers, gonadotropins, and sex harmones. Even in antiquity, attempts at birth control involved a search for substances which might inhibit the essential physiological and biochemical reproductive processes. This report deals with more recent efforts along these lines.
