AbstractChromatographic methods have shown that lipids with long alkyl or 1‐alkenyl chains–called alkoxylipids or ether lipids–are widely distributed in human and animal tissues. These compounds comprise neutral alkoxylipids,i. e.1‐O‐alkyl or 1‐O‐(1‐alkenyl)‐2,3‐di‐O‐acylglycerols, and alkoxylipids which are linked by a phosphate residue at C‐3 to aminoethanol, choline or serine. 1‐O‐Alkylglycerols, 1‐O‐(1‐alkenyl)glycerols and other natural alkoxylipids can be synthesized in high yields. 2‐Alkyl, 1,3‐dialkyl and trialkylglycerols which are not found in nature are also accessible by synthesis. The neutral alkoxylipids are employed in biomedical investigations,e.g.as substrates in acyl‐hydrolase systems or in fat absorption studies. The principal features of alkoxylipid biosynthesis have been elucidated. The alkyl residue is derived from a saturated or monounsaturated fatty acidviathe corresponding alcohol. 1‐O‐(1‐alkenyl)‐2‐O‐acylglycerophosphoryl aminoethanols (“plasmalogens”) are apparently formed from the appropriate 1‐alkyl compounds; this is not possible in the case of the choline series. AbstractWhereas chlorine azide and, to a lesser extent, bromine azide have long been used as preparative reagents in spite of their explosive nature, little is known about the properties of iodine azide although it was actually discovered before the other two compounds.Hantzsch'swarning to beware fo this material, uttered in 1900, still seems to be widely observed. Only recently has iodine azide been isolated as a pure substance, thus promoting its more detailed investigation. Proper use of this highly labile reagent opens up new vistas in synthetic chemistry.

摘要:
AbstractCyclic sulfoness containing structural elements such as aromtic rings, heteroatoms. functional groups, and further SO2‐groups as ring members decompose on heating with cleavage of SO2and formation of a new CC bond. In the last decade this “sulfone pyrolysis” has been expanded into a generally applicable method even allowing the synthesis of sterically strianed medium‐membered and multi‐membered cyclic and polycyclic systems containing aromatic ring. By the pyrolysis of sulfones which are only unilateally activated by benzyl moieties, aromatic systms can be bridged by (CH2)nchains of any desired length. In addition, (CH2) chains can be split off together with two SO2molecules, with recombination of the remaining centers, resulting in ring contraction by four tonatoms. However, sulfone pyrolysis is of importance not only as a ring‐contraction method but as a crucial final step in the synthesis of multi‐membered hydrocarbon cycles,
