摘要:
The expansion of the dielectric function, employed in deriving the equations for wave‐wave coupling, often diverges if the wave‐particle interactions are nonresonant. This difficulty can be avoided by expanding about the complex eigenmodes of the linear system. This is illustrated for a cold beam‐plasma system.

摘要:
It is shown that the basic nonlinear effect associated with the oscillating two‐stream instability is a downshift of the natural frequencies of electron plasma waves. As a result, conversion of this instability to a decay instability can take place.
