摘要:
The halibut enzyme activity was found to be less affected by temperature change. The energy of activation of the reaction catalyzed by these two enzymes differed by a factor of 2. Both enzymes catalyzed reactions that had a constant energy of activation over the range of 5–35 C.

摘要:
A rare case of hermaphroditism in lake whitefish was observed. The ovo-testis was found in the left gonad with an unusual dorsal-ventral relationship between the two parts. The male portion contained both wide tubules densely packed with germ cells, bordering on the ovarian tissue, and narrow tubules, with fewer germ cells, in the rest of the testis. The female portion appeared to contain only atretic eggs. There was a clear demarcation between the male and female portions of the ovo-testis.

摘要:
Landed quality of scallop (Placopecten magellanicusGmelin) meat was improved by chilling in sea water prior to bagging and icing. The results suggested an increase in ice storage time of 2–9 days on trips of 14 or 15 days to Georges Bank and longer on trips to grounds where water temperatures are higher than 60 F.

摘要:
Deepwater longline sets were made in 1830–2830 m off the British Columbia coast between 50°31′–54 32′ N and 129°00′–134°35′ W in 1965. A total of 85 individual fishes were caught, which included five species.

摘要:
Two simple, genetically determined serum esterase polymorphisms, suited for population analysis, are described in two species of freshwater fishes, white bream (Abramis bliccaB.) and ruff (Acerina cernuaL.). In both instances the synthesis of the enzyme bands was found to be controlled by two allelic codominant genes, which also in both instances were kept in equilibrium. Gene frequency data are presented from one population of each species.

摘要:
Bacterial kidney disease was presumptively identified in each of 25 hatchery-reared juvenile salmon (Salmo salar) but in only 2 of 235 wild juveniles in the Margaree River system. Apparently spread of disease from the hatchery to wild salmon in the river is very gradual.

摘要:
Mean counts of vertebrae, of anal and soft dorsal fin rays, and of peduncular finlets were identical in samples of Atlantic mackerel,Scomber scombrus, from the northern and southern breeding populations in the northwest Atlantic Ocean. This information, together with growth rates and biochemical evidence from the literature, suggests that although the populations occupy separate spawning regions there is sufficient exchange of individuals at other seasons to maintain considerable genetic continuity.
