&NA;The case of a patient who developed osteosarcoma in the sphenoid bone 15 years after radiation therapy for a craniopharyngioma is reported. &NA;A large, completely intracerebral, dermoid tumor with extensive outgrowth of appendages into brain tissue caused prominent reactive changes in the surrounding white matter, similar to those seen in a typical subependymoma. &NA;A case of hemangioma of the peroneal nerve is presented. The tumor, which exerted compression on the main trunk of the peroneal nerve, was excised without causing damage to the nerve. &NA;Intracranial tumors associated with Klippel‐Feil syndrome usually occur in children, with spinal tumors being more common in adults affected by the syndrome. A rare case of a dermoid cyst at the craniocervical junction presenting as aseptic meningitis in an adult with Klippel‐Feil syndrome is described. &NA;An unusual case of discitis in a 60‐year‐old, insulin‐dependent, diabetic man is presented. Radiographs of the lumbar spine demonstrated changes associated with infection of the intervertebral disc space. Cultures from the L5‐S1 disc space grew the microorganism designated by the Centers for Disease Control as Group Ve‐1, an organism that has had questionable clinical significance in the past, and has not been reported as a pathogen in an intervertebral disc space. &NA;Cavernous malformations located in the dura are rare. We present a case of a large cavernous malformation located in the anterior fossa and implanted in the dura of a pregnant woman. It showed great vascularization on an angiogram, and resembled a meningioma on computed tomographic scan. The operation was difficult because of the tumor's great vascularity and profuse bleeding. &NA;A standard three‐point skull clamp is modified for application to infants. Rubber plugs (usually used for antibiotic bottles) pierced by the skull pins are used to avoid intracranial penetration of the pins. The upper surface of the rubber plugs attached to the scalp contributes to support of the head. Four infants were successfully treated in a prone position with this technique. &NA;A simple and inexpensive device for controlling suction force in neurosurgical operations is described. This device is interposed in the suction tubing on the sterile surgical field. This has the advantage of allowing the surgeon to alter the suction force quickly and easily, according to his or her preference.
