摘要:
Four previously unknown species of hydromedusae are described from plankton samples collected during oceanographic cruises undertaken along the south‐western coast of Africa. The AnthomedusaBythotiara capensissp.n., known from a single specimen, was found in shallow waters of the Cape region (South Africa). The LeptomedusaMargalefia intermediagen. et sp.n. collected in Namibian waters, possesses desmoneme cnidocysts. This category of cnidocysts is previously unreported in the Leptomedusae, but is common in Anthomedusae and in the limnomedusan family Proboscidactylidae. Margalefia seems to occupy a position intermediate between the families Tirannidae and Laodiceidae. Two species of Limnomedusae,Aglauropsis edwardsiisp.n. andProboscidactyla menonisp.n. were frequent at several stations in Namibian waters between depths of 50 m and the surfac

摘要:
The flame bulb ofProrhynchusis formed by a single cell. Its nucleus is not located in the cytoplasm at the base of the flame. Cilia of the flame have cross‐striated hollow ciliary rootlets converging towards their tips. The maximum number of cilia counted was 13. The weir consists of a single row of longitudinal ribs that contain longitudinal filaments and possess regularly arranged protrusions along their surface appearing as transverse bands in horizontal section. A ‘membrane’ of extracellular material extends between the ribs. and loose material fills the places between the ribs, with a denser layer midway between adjacent ribs. Distally, the ribs fuse to form a continuous tube without a junction. Small protonephridial capillaries lack junctions, larger ducts have lateral flames and patches of long microvilli. Large excretory ducts open into a ciliated and lamellated cavity which is connected by a narrow canal to the excretory pore. The terminal part of the canal close to the pore possesses many cilia and microvilli. Phylogenetic implications of the findings are disc

摘要:
Of 54 species of Gnathostomulida known to date, only six have been reported from the Pacific Ocean. This paper describes 18 species of Gnathostomulida from the Pacific islands of Fiji. Tonga and northern New Zealand. Of these, three are species previously described from the northeastern Atlantic and Mediterranean:Haplognathia ruberrima(Sterrer 1966), or the northwestern Atlantic:Haplognathia rosacea(Sterrer 1970) andPterognathia ctenifera(Sterrer 1970). Fifteen species are new to science, including three that represent two new genera:Cosmognathia arcusgen. et sp.n.,Cosmognathia bastillaesp.n.,Pterognathia crocodilussp.n.,Pterognathia viliisp.n.,Agnathiellasp.,Tenuignathia vitiensissp.n.,Ratugnathia mukuluvae gen. et sp.n.,Gnathostomula salotaesp.n.,Gnathostomula rajisp.n., Gnathostomula maorica sp.n.,Austrognathia singatokaesp.n.,Austrognathia nannuliferasp.n.,Austrognathia novaezelandiaesp.n.,Austrognatharia homunculussp.n., andAustrognatharia pectensp.n.

摘要:
As thc second in a series on Gnathostomulida from the Pacific Ocean this paper describes an additional eight species from Hawaii of which four are new to science. All are accommodated within existing genera:Haplognathia asymmetricasp.n.,Haplognathia ruberrima(Sterrer, 1966),Haplognathia rufasp.n.,Cosmognathia arcusSterrer, 1991,Cosmognathia manubriumsp.n.,Pterognathia cteniferaSterrer, 1970,Pterognathia hawaiiensissp.n., andAustrognathia novaeze landiaeSterrer, 1991.

摘要:
This paper deals with nine species of Gnathostomulida from the Pacific Ocean, all in established genera. Of the nine species one is cosmopolitan (Haplognathia rosacea(Sterrer, 1970)), four have been described previously from other localities in the Indo‐Pacific (Cosmognathia manubriumSterrer, 1991;Gnathostomula maldivarumGerlach, 1958;Austrognathia nannuliferaSterrer, 1991;Austrognatharia pectenSterrer, 1991), and four are new to science (Pterognathia ugerasp.n.;Gnathostomula algretisp.n.;Austrognatharia macroconiferasp.n.;Austrognatharia mooreensissp.n.

摘要:
The present paper contains descriptions of 14 new species of dorvilleid polychaetes that are part of a highly diverse benthic infauna sampled on the U.S. Atlantic slope and rise between the Canadian border and South Carolina. Quantitative samples were taken with a Hessler‐Sandia box core during 18 cruises between 1983 and 1987. Samples were sieved through screens having a mesh opening of 300 μ. The newly described species belong to the generaOphryorrocha. Exallopus. Parophryotrochaand two new genera,Pseudophryotrochagen.n. andAnchidorvilleagen.n. An emended generic diagnosis ofOphryotrochais provided to accommodate some of the new species, but also to include a group of atypical species described earlier by several authors who had modified the generic concept ofOphryotrochawithout providing a formal emendation. The genusOphryotrochais revised to contain 31 species helonging to two species groups. A comparison of a suite of morphologic characters, however. indicates that these species addressed in this paper are discussed in the context of the entire family Dorvilleid

摘要:
A new genus, Pseudocatamachilis gen.n. is established on the basis of a thorough study of many specimens male and female of Catamachilis torquata (Nav#aAs, 1905). All type material was lost during the Spanish civil war (1936‐39). A neotype is designated and the species redescribed. GenusPseudocatamachilisis related toCatamachilisSilvestri andPromesomachilisSilvestri, but distinguished from these genera by the type of ovipositor and the presence of two pairs of parameres, among other characteristics given in the tex
