摘要:
The circumscription of the choanoflagellate genusPleurasiga(fam. Acanthoecidae) is problematic in that the generic type,P. orculaeformisSchiller, 1925, is incompletely described and has not been found again. A reinvestigation of two species hitherto referred to this genus (P. minutaLeadbeater, 1972, andP. cupulaLeadbeater, 1972) has shown that they are too different from other species ofPleurasigato remain within the genus. One of them is referred to a new monotypic genus,Nannoecagen.n., asNannoeca minuta(Leadbeater) comb.n., whereas the other is transferred to the genusStephanoeca[S. cupula(Leadbeater) comb.n.]

摘要:
Four species of theParamecium aureliacomplex were found in the studied territory (Klodzko Basin) of the Middle Sudetes in Poland, i.e.Paramecium primaurelia, P. biaurelia, P. tetraureliaandP. novaurelia. Of these,P. biaureliaandP. novaureliaappeared with greater frequency thanP. primaurelia. Both species dominated overP. primaureliain the number of determined habitats, as well as in the number of examined clones.Paramecium tetraureliawas rare in the area, being found in only one habitat.

摘要:
Taxonomical descriptions and ecological records are given of two new species ofMesostomafrom Australia:Mesostoma appinumsp.n. andMesostoma magnumsp.n. Externally,M. appinumresembles other species of theM. linguagroup, but internally the combination of a thin‐walled copulatory organ, a large penis papilla and the appearance of epithelium differentiates it from similar species.Mesostoma magnumis a large and darkly pigmented species. Its characteristic features include a large copulatory organ, follicular testicles and a differentiated atrium. Both species are efficient predators of mosquito larvae andDaphni

摘要:
The epidermis ofCleistogamia longicirrusconsists of columnar, interdigitated cells with apical mitochondria, short microvilli and cilia which have a single horizontal rootlet anchored in the adjacent cytoplasm by transverse bars and a thin side branch. Cells are held together by desmosomes and intermediary junctions. Epidermal cilia have a terminal, electron dense rod between the central microtubules and doublet 1 and a terminal plate; doublets 1 and 6–9 lose one of their microtubules and gradually all doublets lose one microtubule and peripheral doublets disappear. Spermatozoa have a single closed peripheral row of microtubules, numerous electron dense granules and mitochondria and axonemes are of the 9 +“1” type and free for most of their length. Nerve fibres have microtubules and some nerve fibres are surrounded by lamellae and have invaginations of the fibre wall. The epidermis ofSeritia stichopiresembles that ofCleistogamia, but cilia have a single horizontal rootlet anchored by transverse bars in the cytoplasm, without a side branch. Spermatozoa also are similar to those ofCleistogamia. Certain ultrastructural similarities between some Umagillidae and Neodermata are apparently due to convergent evolution and do not allow the conclusion that Umagillidae and Neodermata are particularly closely re

摘要:
The morphology of young stages ofEupolymnia nebulosa(Montagu, 1818) is observed using SEM. Significant changes occur at several times after egg laying. The transition from endotrophy to exotrophy takes place when the larvae are about 13–15 days old. At the same time, the primary tentacle appears as a hemispherical bud; the first setae to emerge are transitory and club‐shaped. They are shed when the larvae are about 50 days old. Observations on the development of the uncinigerous torus of the 11th segment (the first one bearing uncini with the main fang in an alternated direction) indicate that the uncini appear at the dorsal extremity of the torus and then move toward the medio‐ventral axis as they increase in size. The uncini are shed when they reach the ventral extremity of the torus. These changes may result in taxonomic confusions unless the complete sequence of development is

摘要:
All six naupliar and five copepodite stages ofTisbe gracilis(T. Scott, 1895) are described. A key for the identification of the nauplius stages is given. The oral appendages of all copepodite stages are described. Sexual dimorphism is visible from the copepodite IV stage on.

摘要:
Holobomolochus confususis reported for the first time from the western Atlantic coasts. The external morphology, especially that of the male, of specimens from the nasal cavities of cod,Gadus morhua, from the west coast of Sweden is described and discussed. Sexual dimorphism occurs in the maxillipeds, abdomen, first antenna and in the armature of the legs. The results indicate that the species has a good swimming ability and that this may allow the male especially to change hosts.

摘要:
The cuticular morphology of a hitherto unknown larva from New Zealand belonging to the genusMischoderusis described in detail. From this it appears that this larva (and probably tanyderid larvae in general) represents a much more remarkable type than can be seen from the available descriptions, the head capsule showing some morphological features unique among nematocerous larvae. Furthermore, it is established that tanyderid larvae do not represent such a primitive stage as is often claimed. However, no closer affinities to other nematocerous families can be stated in a convincing way.

摘要:
Male genitalia belonging to representatives of a total of 72 genera of Old and New World Braconinae have been examined by light and scanning electron microscopy. On the basis of features of the volsellae (setosity), the parameres (setosity), the digitus (number of teeth, shape) and basal ring (posterior extension) it was possible to identify certain generic groupings which support the general suprageneric divisions of the subfamily based on other taxonomic characters. The male genitalia are thus shown to provide a potentially useful new set of characters for the higher level classification of the braconine genera.
