摘要:
Reflective practice offers a way to structure learning within supervision by paying attention to aspects of practice within reflected experiences, in such ways that the issues can be identified, understood, and worked through to resolve contradictions between desired outcomes and actual practice. In this process, emerging personal knowledge of practice is juxtaposed with relevant theory in such a way that the manager is able to meaningfully assimilate theory into his or her practice as appropriate. This paper illustrates how an H‐grade unit nurse manager identified a number of situational management issues through reflecting and sharing experiences in a group clinical supervision milieu (over a period of 15 weeks). Clinical supervision is being advocated as a means to ensure practitioner development of effective practice (Vision for the Future, Department of Health 1993

摘要:
This research aimed to identify the issues considered important by primary stakeholders in the amalgamation of two colleges of nursing and midwifery and to explore differences in issue perceptions between stakeholder groups. The purpose was to provide data which would facilitate the amalgamation process. The research was carried out in two stages, the first of which was issue identification, whereby a qualitative approach to exploration was employed. This was followed by the stage of issue validation, carried out using a quantitatively oriented questionnaire. Stage 1 identified 38 specific issues relating to 13 separate issue topics. These could be further categorized into structural, teaching/learning/curricular and affective themes. Stage 2 demonstrated that these 38 issues were all considered important by all staff groups, but highlighted important, significant differences in the perceptions of how well these issues were perceived to be addressed,

摘要:
The Purpose of the paper is to describe supervision and its significance compared with mentorship and leadership in health care. In addition, supervision is compared with other forms of processes for staff training in psychotherapy and psychosocial work. Supervision can be defined as a pedagogical process, where clinical experiences are made clear and systematized in a professional context. This requires a continual and systematic review process with an emphasis on solving problems.

摘要:
This paper looks at the differences in the characteristics of registered nurses and midwives who have achieved differing levels of educational attainment. A review of the pertinent literature demonstrates that there is little published material on this topic and therefore, proposals are put forward with regard to a conceptual model to frame outcome characteristics. The model is seen as being appropriate when trying to identify the different characteristics of nurses and midwives educated to diploma, degree, postgraduate diploma, masters and doctoral level. The model is subsequently applied to identifying core outcomes and composite statements of nurses and midwives who have undertaken diploma or degree programmes. Initial work examining the validity and reliability of the core outcomes and composite statements with regard to degree preparation is described. Areas for further research are also identified.

摘要:
Most health organizations evaluate policies and programmes periodically. Mental health services, without exception, also need to examine their established practices with particular concern about their propriety and effectiveness. As mental health services are coming under increasing pressure to function as self‐evaluating organizations that carefully link planning, service delivery and assessment, choices must be made regarding which evaluative strategies are most relevant to the development of mental health services. This paper examines some of the methodological issues in the outcome evaluations in mental health servic
