摘要:
Experience within East Dyfed Mental Health Services of using externally designed audit tools has indicated a lack of ownership of the audit process by clinical staff. A project has been developed to initiate standard setting and measurement at clinical level, with an assumption that the development of an audit culture through an audit process is synonymous with ownership. An external appraisal system is being developed which can validate internal standard setting and measurement.

摘要:
Over 20 years ago Toffler suggested that ‘tomorrow's individual will have to cope with even more hectic change than we do today’ and that for education the lesson is clear, ‘its prime objective must be to increase the individuals’‘copeability’—the speed and economy with which he/she can adapt to continual change and the faster the rate of change, the more attention must be devoted to discerning the pattern of future events' (Toffler 1970). Knowledge and understanding about what produces change in education is often unclear, however, many theories exist to account for change, which has been described as ‘the most recalcitrant subject in the social sciences’ (Clark 1983). This work considers change and process and includes types of change, the process and management of change, and models of organization. The integration of colleges of nursing into higher education and university departments is then discussed before the article concludes, by putting forward a new model of leadership for nurse education–

摘要:
This paper describes the development over a 3‐year‐period of short management courses for registered nurses offered as part of a professional development educational programme by Oxfordshire Health Authority (OHA) Clinical Education and Practice Team (OXCEPT). The courses were seen as role development for staff nurses, team leaders, sisters, charge nurses and senior sisters, and the content and length of courses were altered, extended and developed in response to evaluation of the courses by tutors and participants. The emphasis is on integrating participants' clinical, managerial and educational roles, as professional practitioners managing nurses and nurs

摘要:
Nursing care provision has become increasingly complex with the growth of health care systems in recent years. This has resulted in a greater emphasis upon the use of team approaches to providing care. This paper explores the nature of teams within nursing and how they can be developed. The membership of nursing teams and the differences between the type of teams is also examined. The process of team building in nursing teams and the way that induction programmes can play a part in this team building process is also discussed.

摘要:
This paper discusses how the concept of internal marketing can be applied within a health care organization. In order to achieve a market orientation an organization must identify the needs and wants of its customers and how these may change in the future. In order to achieve this, internal marketing is a necessary step to the implementation of the organizations marketing strategy. An outline plan for the introduction of an internal marketing programme within an acute hospital trust is proposed. The plan identifies those individuals and departments who should be involved in the planning and implementation of the programme. The benefits of internal marketing to the Trust are also considered.

摘要:
An initiative to develop a standard for professional development is outlined. The standard takes a structure, process, outcome format. Its development resulted in several initiatives being introduced to the unit including: the introduction of a self and peer review system, the introduction of learning contracts and the introduction of the concept of reflection. It was considered that these initiatives would promote individual professional accountability, increased self‐awareness and reflective practice. The initiatives may be viewed in the context of PREP, United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (1990) and the Higher Award, English National Board for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (1991). The audit of the standard may be a tool to measure ‘value for money’ used in professional develo
