AbstractZinc is a fairly abundant metal, it has been estimated that zinc represents 0.004 percent of the earth's crust and is twenty‐fifth in the order of abundance. Its concentrations in surface waters vary greatly with locality; the highest concentrations of zinc have been observed in areas with acid mine drainage, but zinc enters surface waters in many other ways. Chemical thermodynamic calculations summarized by solubility graphs are given. The zinc solubility may be significantly controlled by stream sediments; Zn concentrations of sediments from various areas are given. AbstractWater and sediment samples from two surface water systems were analysed for210Pb and stable lead in order to elucidate the environmental importance and fate of210Pb released from uranium mining. In one system mine drainage waters treated by precipitation of barium sulfate contained a considerable activity of210Pb in particulate form. Spoil piles were the main source of210Pb in the second system, with the dissolved210Pb being the predominant migration form. In both systems the concentration of210Pb rapidly decreased with distance from the source indicating that waterborne210Pb did not represent an environmental problem. Uranium mining did not add significant amounts of stable lead into the surface water systems. It has been found that bottom sediments are a sensitive indicator of the pollution of surface waters with210Pb.

摘要:
AbstractThe momentary condition concerning the haematological, physiological, macro‐and microscopical constitution of the fishes of the Weser at Grohnde was investigated.The fishes were caught electrically at 22 positions in front of and behind the power‐station at Grohnde. In the experiments the blood parameters, the biochemical, enzymatical, parasitological and microscopical changes of several species of fishes were analysed.You can see the details of these changes in the figures and pictures of the publication. It is supposed that organic toxic substances are given into the river in front of the power station, because in this region an industrial undertaking is posted.But also the general water quality of the Weser shows a significant toxicological degree, though the content of salt had been reduced in the former time.One can see that at all positions the blood parameters have changed, we also found haemorrhages in the gills, liver, kidney and spleen, little blood swellings, lymphocysts, necrosis, external and internal parasites, enzymatical changes and inflammations of the liver, kidney and myocard in the fishes. AbstractIn the present work the kinetics and the feasibility of batch anaerobic filter operations for the treatment of beet molasses distillery slops have been investigated.Up to 50% of the influent COD up to 25 g/l are removed after 5… 10 h and up to 80% after 24… 40 h treating time.
