摘要:
AbstractThe disappearance of cell walls during the cell fusion process in the plant was studied electron microscopically on the following objects.Hordeum vulgare: Differentiation in the central vessel of the root.Achras sapota: Origin of laticifers in the shoot apex.Phycomyces blakesleeanusandHansenula wingei: Zygote formation. In the central vessel ofHordeumthe end wall first swells, it is then detached in its entirety from the lateral wall, after which the breakdown process is completed.InAchras, PhycomycesandHansenulacell wall breakdown during the cell fusion process takes place gradually, beginning in the centre. Enzymes that are in close contact with the plasma membrane probably play a part in this process. Both the skeleton which consists of microfibrils and the matrix of the cell walls are dissolved enzymatically. A cellulolytic enzyme is demonstrated in the root extract ofHordeum, a chitinolytic enzyme in the zygote extract ofPhycomyces.

摘要:
AbstractShort descriptions and camera lucida drawings are given of cross‐sections through the hymenophoral trama (lamellae or tubes) of 24Basidiomycetes. These represent aIl the 16 Families of the Agaricales sensu SINGER (1962). The typical members of the Agaricales in a limited definition have to be characterised by a more or less regular or bilateral trama with enlarged cells, or with swollen cellwalls in theBoletaceae, Strobilomycetaceae, GomphidiaceaeandPaxillaceae. In species of the generaPolyporus, Pleurotus(Polyporaceae),LentinellusandCrepidotussuch enlarged or swollen cells are lacking, the trama is irregular and is composed of a dense network of thickwalled hyphae. These genera and others likeSchizophyllumbetter can be classified in theAphyllophorale

摘要:
AbstractThe stamen (A1) ofEpipogiumhas a discrete filament and there is no broad in sertion of the large anther. In the anther the pollinia and the caudicles develop differently from those of theOrchioideaein a way characteristic of the genus. The rostellum consists of a simple gland crowning the top of the median stigmatic lobe. This gland lies on top (is acrotonic) of the pollinia (and not basitonic). The common characteristics make it clear that the genusEpipogiumshould be referred to the contribe of theNeottianthae(subfamiliaEpidendroideae).
