摘要:
SUMMARYRecords are presented of seventeen algae: fourteen Chrysophycean, two Chlorophycean and one Phaeophycean species. Most were growing on glass slides, submerged in small lakes and ditches in the Western part of the Netherlands.

SUMMARYThe dose‐response curves for the induction of thermo‐dormant (pretreated at 37 °C)Lactucaseeds and of far‐red dormant (pretreated by long exposure to far‐red light)Lactucaseeds by red light show a difference in shape. From the shape of the curves it is calculated that for initiation of germination in thermo‐dormant seeds at least 2 quanta (λ = 660 nm) must be absorbed per active unit, in far‐red dormant seeds at l

摘要:
SUMMARYThe metabolic fate of six flavonoids during development and growth of larch needles was investigated. One flavonoid, dihydroquercetin, appeared to be a special bud‐flavonoid. Four compounds were isolated both from buds and leaves, a maximum concentration was found in developing young leaves. A sixth flavonoid, kaempferol‐3‐(p‐coumarylglucoside), was nearly absent in the buds, its highest concentration in the leaves occurred about two months later than that of the other compounds. Only one compound, naringenin‐7‐glucoside, tended to reaccumulate in

摘要:
SUMMARYPhotobleaching and dark‐bleaching ofEuglena gracilischloroplast fragments were studied at different pH. Moreover, the effect of these processes on low‐temperature fluorescence was investigated. The photobleaching of the long‐wave chlorophyllaforms Ca704 and Ca692 proceeded at a higher rate than that of the Ca681, Ca672, and Ca664 forms. Chlorophyllbis considerably more stable towards this process than the Cacomponents. At pH 7.10 the absorption around 649 nm even increased. The percentual quenching of fluorescence was much higher than the absorbance decreases. The dark‐bleaching patterns of the Ca704 and Ca692 forms showed mutual differences. Moreover, they differed from those of the remaining Caforms. Dark‐bleaching of chlorophyllbdid not notably diverge from that of the latter Caforms. The percentual fluorescence decline was much higher than the decreases of absorbance also here. The results are

摘要:
SUMMARYLinnaeus described in 1745 from Öland three dactylorchids named later by himOrchis latifolia(nowO. sambucina), O. maculataandO. incarnata. He forgot in his later books the third one and described in his Species Plantarum(1753) onlyO. latifoliaandO. maculata. According to the prolog, diagnosis and description Linnaeus'O. latifolia(the first plant of Öland) has been described in Flora Suecica, ed. 2 (1755) asO. sambucina. This is a synonym of his (yellow‐flowering)O. latifolia. The synonyms which were used forO. latifoliaby Linnaeus are now namedDactylorhiza incarnataandD. praetermissa. Thelatifolia‐specimen in Linnaeus' herbarium is in a bad state and it misses the tubers. As far as can be judged this specimen is neithersambucinanormajalisand possibly a hybrid ofO. incarnata. There is no element which indicates toO. majalis, a species missing in Öland and in the neighbourhood of Stockholm and Uppsala, where Linnaeus lived. The nameO. latifoliaL. and also its synonymDactylorhiza latifolia(L.) Soó must be rejected because it has widely and persistently been used for a taxon (=O. majalis)not including its type (See Taxon, vol, 24, p. 226. art. 69, adopted in 1975, Len
