摘要:
Black cherry (PrunusserotinaEhrh.) seedlings from low elevation sources (300–490 m) in the southern Appalachian mountains formed floral buds during their initial growing season; seedlings from high elevations (1150–1475 m) did not exhibit first year floral initiation.

摘要:
Nitrogen losses through ammonia volatilization increased with increasing rates of application and were 6.8% of 112 kg urea-N/ha after 10 days. Initial humus moisture content within the limits studied affected volatilization rates in the first days but had little effect on overall losses. A discontinuous ammonia-trapping technique for field use is discussed.

摘要:
Unopened buds of white spruce (Piceaglauca(Moench) Voss) were damaged by late spring frost. At time of death of the apical meristem the buds were not ready for flushing. As expected on the basis of ground frosts, there was more damage among shorter trees than among taller trees, and more damage among open-grown trees than among understory trees.
