摘要:
Photovoltaic double layer cells of phorphyrinic and aromatic tetracarboxylic acid diimid compounds are presented. The photovoltaic characteristics photovoltage, short circuit current and efficiency are reported. In addition the physical characteristics of two model compounds of each class of substances are reported.

摘要:
In some organic molecular aggregates and crystals, intermolecular interaction effects play an essential role in the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. Here, we report on the experimental results on copper phthalocyanine films, which demonstrate a significant intermolecular interaction effects on NLO properties. Results of third-harmonic generation and electro-absorption measurements are presented and discussed.

摘要:
Epitaxial growth of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin metal complexes (MTPP; M = Zn, Mg, Co, VO) and their photoelectrochemical properties were investigated. MTPP crystals grew epitaxially on a KC1 (001) surface by a physical vapor deposition method. All the crystals belong to the tetragonal system. The (100) plane of MTPP crystals is parallel to the KC1 (001) plane, and the [100] axis is parallel to the KC1 (120) axis. Photoelectrochemical properties were measured in the indium-tin oxide(ITO)/MTPP/Ia-,I-/Pt system.

摘要:
1,4-Bis[β-pyridyl-(2)-vinyl] benzene (P2VB) grew epitaxially on a cleavage surface of KC1 crystal from vapor phase. By photo-irradiation PZVB monomer in the film converted to poly-P2VB containing cyclobutane rings. The photopolymerization mechanism of P2VB film was discussed from the electron microscopic observation.

摘要:
Alignment modulation of a nematic liquid crystal was performed by a polarization-selective photochromic reaction of surface azobenzenes. The alignment was changed from an initial perpendicular state to a homogeneous planar state by exposure to the linearly polarized UV light. The induced homogeneous axis was perpendicular to the electric polarization of the reaction light. Rotation of the homogeneous axis was demonstrated by changing the light polarization, and the corresponding relaxation time was measured by laser pulse experiments.

摘要:
The phenomenon of enhanced back scattering of light due to constructive interference effects has been, for the first time, observed in polycrystalline film of organic compounds. The results obtained on tetracene films are explained In terms of the isotropic theory of multiple (elastic) scattering of waves, assuming that microcrystallites of the tetracene layers form discrete individual scattering centres. From the exact isotropic light-scattering theory based on diffusion approximation, and the resulting angular-dependent enhanced back scattering intensity, the full width at half maximum of the back scattering cone could be related to the transport mean free path and conclusions concerning the film morphology drawn on its basis.

In this paper the poling properties of copolymer (PS)O-DCV film have been investigated by the absorption and IR spectra. The relations between corrected electrochromism and poling conditions were discussed. From IR spectra a useful information about chromophore orientation was obtained.

摘要:
Temperature dependence of low-energy-electron transmission spectra was measured for thin films of a molecular fastener, tetrakis(nonylthio) tetrathiafulvalene. 10 spectral features, which can be ascribed to the structure of the conduction bands, were observed in the energy region of incident electron of 0 - 15 eV. They showed a large temperature dependence of the energy position as well as of the sharpness and the intensity. The energy Positions shifted ∼0.6 eVtohigh-energy side by cooling fromroomtemperature to -124°C. Such a large energy shift was not observed for other thin films consisting of long-alkyl molecules, and is considered as a result of the molecular fastener effects.
