摘要:
Improvement of electrode/organic interface has been studied in organic electroluminescent diode which consists of 8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum and diamine derivative. Mono-layer size of aluminum oxide (Al2O3) layer inserted between ele-ctrode and organic interface has been studied. Emission efficiency has been increased by inserting mono-layer size of Al2O3between anode and organic layer and between cathode and organic layer. The mechanism of improvement in emission efficiency has been discussed.

摘要:
Molecular design is discussed for conjugated aromatic unsaturated molecules composed of aromatic ring - double bond - benzene ring (Ar-X═Y-Ph) to control either being durable for a purpose such as the harmonic generation or facilely inducing morphological change of materials such as LB film under light irradiation. For the former purpose, either substitution of aromatic rings of low excitation energies such as anthracene or perylene or substitution of ferrocene ring on a trans CH═CHPh double bond is suitable by preventing trans to cis isomerization. For the latter purpose, use of various C═N and N═N bonds will generally be suitable, since trans to cis isomerization of these bonds still takes place except C═NOMe even with substitution of an aromatic ring of low excitation energy.

摘要:
The title compound is a commercial black pigment based on the perylene skeleton. It exhibits two distinct colors (red and black) in the solid state which correspond to an amorphous and a crystalline phase. The red color (500 nm) is due to randomly-oriented, individual molecules in the amorphous phase; whereas the black phase is composed of two absorption bands: one (473 nm) is due to individual molecules and the other (610 nm) is due to exciton coupling effects. The color change depends mainly on the appearance or disappearance of the absorption band around 610 nm. The present optical switching at 610 nm can be applied to an optical disk system based on an AlGaInP laser diode. An information storage system has been developed in which the absorption at 610 nm is switched on (red→black) or switched-off (black→red) on irradiation with laser in the presence of a hydrazone compound that induces a phase change.

摘要:
The study of poled azo-dye-substituted polymers using direct electron-beam exposure technique is demonstrated. The mechanism of absorption spectrum change and decay of nonlinearity of polymer films via direct EB irradiation are investigated. Channel waveguide and submicron χ(2)grating are successfully fabricated.

摘要:
Mesoscopic two-dimensional patterns, regular dots, stripes, and honeycomb networks are formed when dilute organic solutions of polymers are cast on solid surfaces. Dynamic patterns, so-called “dissipative structures”, formed in the non-equilibrium thermodynamic process of solvent evaporation, are fixed as the two-dimensional polymer patterns on substrates. Some photonic and electronic applications of the mesoscopic polymer patterns are described in this article.

To optimize the energy transfer (ET) from a mixture of 10-(1-(8-hexyl)pyrenyl)-decanoic acid, 10-(1-(6-hexyl)-pyrenyl)decanoic acid, and 10-(1-(3-hexyl)-pyrenyl)decanoic acid (HPyDA) to a mixture of 10-(3-(9-hexyl)perylenyl)-10-oxodecanoic acid and 10-(3-(10-hexyl)perylenyl)-10-oxodecanoic acid (HPeDA) in HPyDA-HPeDA mixed monolayer assemblies, fluorescence spectra of the mixed monolayers containing various compositions of HPyDA and HPeDA were measured. Efficient ET was observed in the mixed monolayers of HPeDA:HPyDA molar ratios of 1:3 - 1:300.

摘要:
We describe here the elaboration of photovoltaic cells based on rare earth bisph-thalocyanine complexes. Those p-type organic compounds have been use in Schottky and pn configurations. Depending on the lanthanide rare earth of the Pc2Ln complexe, the absorption band characteristics of Pc and Pc2Ln generates intense, weak or no photocurrent. This observation can be directly related either to the size of the Ln atom or to the structural organisation of the Pc2Ln thin films.

In order to study the molecular weight dependence of the dielectric properties, the dynamics of the α -relaxation in both liquid and supercooled liquid of the dyhydroxyl propylene glycol monomer (PG) and its five oligomers (poly propylene glycol, PPG) has been investigated as the organic fragile glassforming materials in the frequency range from 10mHz to 10GHz by means of broadband dielectric spectroscopy. The frequency dependence of the complex dielectric permittivity is analyzed by the Harvrilliak-Negami (HN) expression. The temperature dependence of the characteristic loss peak frequency fmaxfor the α -process shows a Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher (VTF) behavior. The PG monomer is more fragile liquid than its oligomers because of the linear increase of the measure of non-linearity to 1/Mn.

摘要:
We have extensively studied the influence of the substrate surface on the V-shaped switching in thin planer cells of a chiral smectic liquid crystal and found that the substrate surface plays a major role in the emergence of V-shaped switching: namely, thick alignment layers and less polar surfaces are ideal for V-shaped switching. It was also found that, instead of using a thick alignment layer, ideal V-shaped switching could be achieved by using a thin alignment layer with a less polar insulating layer.
