摘要:
We present that an intensity distribution of optical near field induced around photo-irradiated polystyrene spherical nanopariticles was transcribed on a film of azo-containing urethane-urea copolymer. The transcription was attained by a topographical change of the polymer surface, and the change was observed using an atomic force microscope. We have observed distinguishable dent surface structure using particles 28 nm in diameter.

摘要:
This report demonstrates a novel strategy for the light-guided motion of a liquid droplet on photoresponsive surfaces based on reversible changes in surface free energy induced by light. When a liquid droplet in a mm-scale was placed on a substrate surface modified with a calix[4]resorcinarene derivative having photochromic azobenzene units, photoirradiation caused a gradient in surface free energy due to the photoisomerization of surface azobenzenes, leading to directional motion of the liquid droplet. This motion is ascribed to a force imbalance between two opposite edges of the liquid droplet induced by light.

摘要:
Some novel amino-substituted spiroindolinonaphthopyrans have been synthesised. Whilst these compounds exhibit no observable photochromic properties at ambient temperature, protonation results in ring opening to give stable, intensely coloured dyes. Recyclisation and decolouration result on basification.
