摘要:
Conductivity switching was observed in the LB films of supermolecules having phenylazonaphthalene, alkyl chains, and pyridinium(TCNQ)2 as switching, transmission, and working units. respectively. The utilization of phenylazonaphthalene shifts the wavelength of the control light for the conductivity switching toward a longer wavelength region compared with the case of azobenzene as a switching unit.

摘要:
Extended X-ray absorption fine structure measurement was performed using the sample containing only YC82 as a metallofullerene. The spectrum measured on the K-edge of the Y showed that a Y atom has two neighboring carbons at distance of 2.41 Å. This suggests that the Y atom is located on the double bond of the carbon cage. This bond structure corresponds to one of the stable candidates predicted by molecular orbital calculation, which accounts for the charge transfer interaction in Y3+C823-as has already been confirmed by ESR measurements.

摘要:
Issues related to the design of poled electro-optic polymer waveguide have been analyzed in terms of modulation voltage, optical loss due to metal electrode and mode size. The analysis suggests a couple of general guidelines for the device fabrication. Firstly, asymmetric structure gives better performance than symmetric structure in term of modulation voltage and mode size, where the refractive index of one of the buffer layers is close to the guiding layer and that of the other layer is much smaller than the guiding layer, by more than 0.1. Secondly, the guiding layer needs to be fabricated as thick as possible within the range of the single mode operation for a given material system to obtain lowest possible modulation voltage under a given limit of electrode associated loss. Electro-optic modulators fabricated using the photobleaching technique supported the guidelines.

摘要:
The chemical surface modification of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE) film was carried out in hydrazine gas photolyzed with ArF excimer laser irradiation. Hydrophilic surface appeared on PTFE film after the laser treatment. The surface was analyzed with a measurement of water contact angle, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and FTIR spectroscopy (attenuated total reflection). In addition, on the basis of the hydrophilic behavior, we succeeded in the area-selective electroless plating of nickel and copper metal on the chemically modified surface.

摘要:
Polymer-TCNQ(tetracy anoquinodimethane) charge transfer complexes were synthesized using organic polycations as electron donor. The materials were spin coated on the aluminium deposited polycarbonate substrate and their optical recording effects were tested at 830nm With the recording power of 8mW and recording speed of 1.2m/s, the maximum CNR (carrier to noise ratio) of 40dB was observed.

摘要:
The objective of the present study is to build a chemical sensor utilizing the feature of a high frequency SAW device for enhansing the sensor sensitivity and the feasibility of making a multi-channel structure on the substrate for integration of plural sensors. We developed the fine casting method (which was named as “droplet - surface casting method”), and deposited several kinds of adsorption films on the channels of a SAW device. The device was ST cut Quartz 9OMHz SAW resonator chips, each of which has 2 resonators on a substrate. We constructed 4-channel odor sensing system that have one reference channel and three sensing channels using the two chips, and measured the response patterns of the organic solvents which have same carbon number and different atomic groups.

摘要:
Four cyanine dye-TCNQ (Tetracyanoquinodimethane) complexes were synthesized and used as optical recording media. The optical recording properties of cyanine dye-TCNQ complexes wre compared with cyanine dyes. Cyanine dye-TCNQ complexes are spin coatable and highly sensitive to laser light. 摘要:
We developed novel recording/erasing system using only one laser source and polymeric liquid crystal material. To do this, LCP-105(Merck) was adapted for recording material and investigated the possibility of repeated optical recording and thermal erasing. After optical recording (7mW, 830nm) on SCLCP disk, recorded signal represented 32dB and this signal was completely diminished by heat treatment of recorded disk (85°C, 30sec). These results illustrate the possibility of recording/ erasing system by laser irradiation of same laser source (same wavelength).

摘要:
A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor system for the detection of odorants, especially environmental pollutant, was constructed by depositing various phospholipids, activated carbon and lead-base inorganic pigment on the surface of the QCM. The identification of odorants is discussed in terms of comparison of their normalized patterns of resonant frequency shift and relative response intensities calculated from the response curve.
