摘要:
AbstractThe metabolism of benodanil (2‐iodobenzanilide) was studied in rats following an oral dose of 150 mg benodanil kg−1body weight. The major 24‐h urinary metabolite was found to be the 4′‐hydroxy derivative, both free (≈ 5%) and as the glucuronide (≈ 4%) and sulphate (≈ 4%) conjugates. Over a 6‐day period, about 16% of the administered dose was excreted in the urine and about 80% in the faeces. After dosing with [14C]‐ benodanil, blood radioactivity levels were highest 30 min after dosing, with small broader peaks at 4 and 7 h, while biliary activity levels rose slowly to a maximum about 10–12 h after the dose, some 16% being excreted in 24 h as the glucuronide conjugate of the

AbstractTricyclazole (EL 291), 4,5‐dihydro‐4‐methyltetrazolo [1,5‐a] quinazolin‐5‐one (PP 389), and pyroquilon (CGA 49104) were studied to determine the effects on growth and melanin biosynthesis byPyricularia oryzae in vitro. The three fungicides were essentially devoid of toxicity toP. oryzaeat concentrations up to 50 ug ml−1but each selectively inhibited melanin biosynthesis at much lower concentrations. Inhibition of melanin biosynthesis resulted in the accumulation of 2‐hydroxyjuglone and flaviolin. The study indicated that the three compounds act by a similar mechani

摘要:
AbstractThe effect of the herbicides di‐allate, diquat, diuron, paraquat, tri‐allate and trifluralin, at a range of application rates from 0.5 to 32 times that recommended by the manufacturers, on vesicular‐arbuscular (V‐A) endophyte spore abundance in the soil and on infection of wheat roots was investigated in field and glasshouse experiments. Paraquat and diquat had no measurable effect on V‐A endophyte spore abundance. There was a slight trend to lower V‐A endophyte spore numbers at high rates of application of di‐allate and tri‐allate but no trend for the other chemicals. Infection intensity (% root length infected) declined at high rates of di‐allate and led to lower mycorrhizal root weights. The phosphorus content of the shoots was also reduced by di‐allate. High doses of di‐allate, diuron, tri‐allate and trifluralin reduced most parameters of plant growth more than mycorrhizal parameters. It is therefore concluded that at normal application rates these chemicals are unlikely to affect adversely endomycorrhiz

摘要:
AbstractInhibition of sporidial multiplication in cultures ofUstilago maydisby 1‐[2‐(2, 4‐dichlorophenyl)‐4‐ethyl‐1, 3‐dioxolan‐2‐ylmethyl]‐1H‐1, 2, 4‐triazolea(CGA‐64251), at concentrations of 0.1, 1.0 and 5.0 μg ml−1, increased from about 15% during the first 4 h, to 58–70% during the subsequent 4 to 12‐h period. Sporidia became swollen and highly branched in the presence of the fungicide. Total lipid content as a percentage of the dry weight was not affected after exposure of the sporidia to the fungicide at 0.1 or 5 μg ml−1for 4 h, but synthesis of ergosterol and other demethyl‐sterols was inhibited by 87–92%. Large quantities of methyl‐sterol precursors of ergosterol and of free fatty acids accumulated in the treated sporidia. Fungitoxicity of CGA‐64251 is attributed to inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesi

摘要:
AbstractMethods are described for the extraction and analysis by gas‐liquid and high‐pressure liquid chromatography of the fungicide imazalil, 1‐(β‐allyloxy‐2, 4‐dishlorophenethyl) imidazole, on potatoes. Before storage, over 80% was recovered from potatoes treated with 0.01–3.0 mg imazalil kg−1, with a detection limit of 2 μg kg−1. Imazalil applied to potatoes at 10 g t−1before storage decreased the incidence of gangrene (Phoma exigua), silver scurf (Helminthosporium solani), skin spot (Polyscytalum pustulans) and black scurf (Rhizoctonia solani), and was at least as effective as thiabendazole applied at 40 g t−1. At 1 g t−1it also decreased skin spot and silver scurf. Incidence of black dot (Colletotrichum coccodes) was unaffected by t
