摘要:
AbstractThe hypothesis of gravitational attenuation is discussed and several theoretical problems with possible solutions are noted. It is pointed out that, if energy were attenuated out of the gravitational field by matter, it would ultimately be thermalized. Geothermal data are then employed to establish an upper limit to the gravitational attenuation coefficient, some fifteen orders of magnitude smaller than the currently accepted value. The internal heating of other planetary bodies is investigated to see if a yet smaller upper limit is deducible therefrom – with negative result

AbstractOn the basis of the intrinsic (U – B)0colours of the cepheid variables, found by the authors, theUV‐excesses in the maximum and minimum light δ(U – B)maxand δ(U – B)minare defined. It is found out that theUV‐excesses in the maximum light δ(U – B)minincrease with the periodP(Fig. 2), but there is no correlation between δ(U – B)minand logP. AbstractDie lichtelektrischen Untersuchungen in den Jahren 1969 und 1970 der drei Mangan‐Sterne HD 207857, HD 220933 und HD 225289 im UBV‐System zeigen für alle drei Objekte einen periodischen Lichtwechsel mit einer Amplitude von etwa 0.01 mag. Die Lichtkurve für HD 207857 zeigt eine Doppelwelle bei einer Periode von 20.70 Tagen. Die Periode für HD 220933 ergab sich zu 6.97 Tagen und für HD 225289 zu 6.433

AbstractIt is well‐known that, in a rotating star, a meridional circulation directed from pole to equator contributes a latitude dependence to the law of rotation, as it is observed on the Sun. It is also known that such a circulation is produced by a radial dependence of the original angular velocity if the outer parts of the convective zone possess a higher angular velocity than the inner parts. In this paper it is shown that a two‐dimensional turbulence with velocity vectors perpendicular to the radial direction, necessarily leads to the required relation dω0/dr>0. This also holds when there is an additional three‐dimensional homogeneous and isotropic turbulent field. The characteristic lengths of the two turbulences would, however, have to have different orders of magnitude whenever the horizontal turbulence should not be strictly two‐dimensional but posses correlation lengths finite in all directions. The application of this to explaining also the phenomenon of the superrotation of the Earth's upper atmosphere is suggested.
