摘要:
Analysis of the novel approach for the determination of CPVC's by viscosity measurements shows that the explanation for the dependence of viscosity on pigment volume concentration as given by K.M.A. Shareef and M. Yaseen (J. Colour Soc.8, Oct/Dec 1983, 8-12) is very unlikely. The dependence is either caused by a fortuitous combination of binder viscosity, Einstein coefficient of the pigment, and binder adsorption, or it is on artefact, based on slippage of the spindle in the high viscosity systems, for example.

摘要:
Shelf-life of emulsions is very much linked with the stability of the emulsifier/s being used in their preparation. Instability of the emulsifiers may be caused due to some chemical changes taking place aiithin the emulsifiBr molecules such as oxidative, hydrolytic and/or others not well defined - resulting in their degradation. The present paper highlights the importance of the two aspects and some of the findings made in our laboratory on UJ/O emulsions where the aqueous phase contained high concentration of electrolytes.

摘要:
By using a surfactant having three short oxyethylene chains, one of which is terminated with a phosphonate monoethyl ester group, a three phase system is obtained with brine and hydrocarbon without the addition of cosurfactant. The structure of the middle phase microemulsion has been investigated by means of a number of physical methods. Strong evidence is presented for a w/o structure.

摘要:
A synthetic method for preparation of mixed hydrogenated and fluorinated oils of general formula RF-CH2∼CH = CH-Rn in which the fluorinated and hydrogenated parts could be altered at will is described. For the first time, fluorinated oils which have a high capacity for oxygen have been microemulsified using a hydrogenated surfactant (ionic or non-ionic) opening new perspectives for the production of blood substitutes.

摘要:
The surface and interfacial properties of a nonionic emulsifier (Tween 80)were studied in polyethylene glycol/air and polyethylene glycol/oil systems. It was found that micelles are formed, and that the CMC, area per surfactant molecule and free energy of adsorption of surfactant to the interface increased as functions of ethylene oxide (E0) content of the solvent molecules. These changes in the surface and interfacial properties of the surfactant are apparently a result of surfactant-solvent interactions, due to hydrogen bonding. A series of oil-in-solvent emulsions was prepared also, and the stabilities and particle size of the emulsions were found to be mainly dependent on the adsorption energy of the surfactant.
