摘要:
The study was aimed at investigating the role of asphaltenes as stabilizers for totuene-in-water miniemulsions. These miniemulsions were prepared with sodium laurylsulphate and cetyl alcohol. To confirm the amphoteric nature of the asphaltenes: 1) they were adsorbed on fluorite and their electrophoretic mobility was measured using a microelectrophoresis cell and; 2) interfacial tension measurements were carried out using a tensiometer.

摘要:
The stability of four components emulsions - oil, water, surfactant and cosurfactant - is examined. From a series of stable formulations, prepared with one surfactant family, the correlations between different characteristic parameters - solubility parameters of the oil and of the cosurfactant, surfactant HLB, required HLB of the oil - are checked. The experimental study displays linear relations between some of these parameters. The results allow to predict that the choice of the oil induces the choice of an HLB range for the surfactant and a solubility parameter range for the cosurfactant.

摘要:
The selective solubilization of pig stratum corneum (SC) by the nonionic surfactant octyl glucoside (OG) was investigated. The use of OG concentrations lower than its critical micelle concentration (CMC) led to a progressive solubilization of SC membranes whereas OG concentrations higher than its CMC provided an increase in its solubilizing power. In these conditions, some amino acids building the SC keratinocyte envelopes and bound to the lipids by covalent bonds were extracted. TEM revealed during and after surfactant incubation the type of structures formed which may be correlated with the formation of some colloid association between SC components and OG. The OG may be considered as a more suitable solubilizing agent than solvents to obtain more specific and selective solubilization of SC components without a protein denaturing effect.

摘要:
In this experimental investigation of rapid Brownian coagulation in dilute oil-in-water emulsions, the absence of deformation influence on droplet interaction and drainage is established. The result is in agreement with the theory of Brownian coagulation in miniemulsions proposed by the Borwankar-Ivanov group. As a first approximation the applicability of Smoluchowski theory to rapid coagulation in emulsions is established. Observing the weak influence of droplet deformation on rapid coagulation and taking into account Borwankar-Ivanov theory that the transition to charged droplets and lower electrolyte concentrations decreases the droplet deformation, we conclude that both slow coagulation and the reversible one cannot be influenced by droplet deformation in miniemulsions. A droplet surface is homogenous in contrast to solid particle surfaces. Thus emulsions can be used as a

摘要:
The phase behavior of cationic surfactant/oil/water/alcohol systems was systematically scanned to correlate the attainment of three-phase microemulsion-oil-water systems with the following formulation variables: water phase salinity as sodium chloride concentration, oil alkane carbon number (CAN) or equivalent ACN when the oil phase is not an alkane, surfactant alkyl chain length, surfactant hydrophilic group (both amine salts at acid pH and quaternary ammonium compounds at neutral pH), alcohol and temperature effects.
