摘要:
A novel matrix resin system, oligoimide-epoxy resin, has been developed to prepare glass fiber reinforced composites. Benzidine bismaleimide-diaminodiphenyl methane (BBM-DDM) and ethyl-ene bismaieimide-diaminodiphenyl methane (EBM-DDM) oligo-mers having more —NH2groups were prepared through the Michael addition reaction. These oligoimides were used for curing of commercial epoxy resin (i.e., diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A) at 120°–140°C to fabricate crosslinked oligoimide-epoxy resin glass fiber reinforced composites without the evolution of byproduct. The fabricated composites (i.e., laminates) were characterized by their chemical resistance and mechanical properties.

摘要:
Anionic polymerization has been successfully employed for reactive processing, the most notable example being that of nylon RIM [1] using caprolactam polymerization. Here, fast polymerization is achieved with the help of a combination of a catalyst and an initiator under practically anhydrous conditions. This polymerization method leads to a narrow molecular weight distribution and a Poisson distribution of the individual chain lengths. Analytical expressions for calculating the number-average and weight-average degrees of polymerization of the polymer chains from the degree of conversion have been derived based on this knowledge [2]. But in a reactive system where a substantial amount of monomer may be present during most of the processing time, the average must include the monomer units present. Only such averages will be of use in correlations of molecular weight with viscosity and degree of conversion with viscosity, which are of importance in the design of a reactive processing system. A method to compute such average molecular weights is presented here.

摘要:
The regular Kargin's Readings were held on January 24, 1994, in the Chemistry Department of Moscow State University. They were the 24th readings, Professor Valentin A. Kargin, the founder of polymer science in our country, the head of the Scientific Council on Macromol-ecules of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1948–1960), and the head of the Chair of Macromolecules of the Moscow State University, having passed away in 1969. Professor Kargin had founded the great school of experts in the area of physics and chemistry of polymers. He was very active in the science and his contribution mainly concerned the structural approach to synthesis, technology, and physical and chemical properties of polymers. Now Russian and foreign colleagues and disciples of Professor Kargin are preparing a memorial book about this outstanding scientist.
