摘要:
When plastic products reach the end of their useful life, most of them are discarded by open dumping, sanitary landfill, or simple litter. In order to maintain the quality of our environment, it would be highly desirable if the litter portion were readily degradable by sunlight. Whereas earlier efforts were concerned primarily with increasing the ultraviolet-stability of plastics, the emphasis in recent years has turned increasingly toward our ability to use the same understanding and skill to increase the rate of ultraviolet degradation of such materials. The purpose of the present review is to summarize the present status of our efforts in this direction.

Although metallizing of nonconductive surfaces dates from the old Egyptian civilization from which archaeological examples of metallized wood and terra cotta have been found [1], the fastest development of plating on plastics has come within the last ten years [2]. Several developments have emerged in polymer technology, in the processing of plastics, and most important, in the chemical technology of polymer treatments and the electroless plating process.

摘要:
Organofunctional silane coupling agents have been used successfully for many years on glass fibers to improve the performance of glass-reinforced polymer composites and to promote retention of properties in the presence of moisture. The “coupling” mechanism of these silanes at the organic-mineral interface is complex, but is fairly well understood [1]. It involves much more than a simple adhesion promotion between organic polymer and mineral surface. In fact, perfect, rigid adhesion between polymer and reinforcement would produce a crack-sensitive composite of little strength or resistance to temperature cycling.

摘要:
With the recent improvement in the performance and miniaturization of computers, communication equipment, and various other pieces of electronic apparatus, multi-layer printed-circuit boards have attained wide usage. The need for drilling such boards has been increasing. A multi-layer printed-circuit board used in the computer is usually provided with 2,000 to 3,000 holes 0.5-0.9 mm in diameter, each made by a NC high-speed automatic drilling machine. It is estimated that the number of holes made for the drilling of printed-circuit boards might well have reached 200 billion in 1971. Drilling printed-circuit boards is accomplished by using a drill, a punch, a laser beam, an electron beam and liquid jet, or by other methods. It is considered that the use of a drill is most suitable from the point of view of surface quality of drilled holes, reliability of their plating through holes, workability, and so forth.
