摘要:
A new automatic spectrometer is described, based on the use of interference filters. It yields spectra of light sources, reflecting surfaces and filters well within one second. It may be adjusted for obtaining integral spectral values and color coordinates of the above objects within one second.

摘要:
The lag coefficient of a thermometer of cylindrical shape is shown to be approximately proportional to the one‐half power of its diameter and inversely proportional to the one‐half power of the product of ventilation speed and density of the environmental air. This leads to estimated lag coefficients on the order of twenty‐five seconds for radiosonde thermistors near their useful ceiling which in turn implies that radiation errors of one to several degrees may be expected in radiosonde temperature measurements at high altitudes.

摘要:
A high radiation‐flux, measuring calorimeter has been designed for use in imaging furnaces. It consists of a black‐body receiver provided with a cooled aperture and cylindrical housing. It can be exposed to flux densities of the order of 400 cal/cm2sec for extended periods without deterioration. Thermopiles measure the temperatures of the inlet and outlet cooling water. The calorimeter is an absolute measuring device with a response time of one minute. The design virtually eliminates heat losses and permits the measurement of a wide range of heat fluxes. The probable error in the radiation‐flux measurement is ±5%.
