A new capacitive probe for Gunn‐effect domain measurements is reported. The probe was constructed by a vacuum deposition technique rather than the use of thin foils. This results in greatly improved resolution and easier construction.

摘要:
A pulsed voltage generator has been built for an electron microprobe for measuring rise and decay characteristics of cathodoluminescence from micron size sample areas. The pulsed voltage operation has an advantage in that excessive heating of the sample can be avoided by keeping the electron beam on the sample surface only for the duration necessary to get the full trace. Both the pulsing frequency and the pulse duration are variable continuously over wide ranges.

A simple method for stabilizing the light intensity of a xenon arc lamp, used in conjunction with a monochromator, is described. With this setup the stability of the emerging monochromatic light was better than 5%, throughout the spectrum.

摘要:
By incorporating an x‐ray intensifying screen into a standard 10×12.7 cm Polaroid film back, we have been able to reduce the exposure time required to obtain a beam profile drastically. The modified film backs have been used very successfully in high‐energy neutron and charged particle beams.

A standard quadrupole residual gas analyzer can be used to measure secondary ion mass spectra (SIMS) if, between the sample and the entrance to the quadrupole rod system, the energy of the sputtered ions is modulated so as to produce an intensity modulation of only the low energy ions and the signal is recorded using a tuned ac amplifier.

摘要:
A window seal which enables spectroscopic flow cells with minimum dead space to be constructed is described. For windows with a diameter of 20 mm and an unsupported area of 10 mm diam the maximum operating conditions obtained were 450°C and 300 bars nitrogen pressure.
