摘要:
The details of a new, high‐power, arbitrary ratio, waveguide power splitter at microwave frequencies are described. The experimental results, giving the coupled powers at the two output ports for different coupling ratios, are presented for input power levels of 1 and 3 kW (cw). The results are compared with the theory for such structures.

摘要:
An apparatus for the rotation of sample and blank in diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy has been designed and fabricated. Spectra taken with sample rotation give data with better precision by a factor of 4 than without rotation. Additionally, sample rotation saves time by eliminating the need for taking three to five spectra followed by spectrum averaging as has been done in the past to obtain a representative spectrum of solids.

摘要:
A simple device for measuring the instantaneous reflected power from a NMR probe is described. It is built from commercially available directional power‐meter components coupled to a low‐speed oscilloscope. The device can be used to monitor the performance of a probe while data are being acquired. It is particularly useful for adjusting probes whose characteristics change during a high‐power pulse because of component heating.

摘要:
We describe an x‐ray diode which is simple to construct and operate. At a bias voltage of 2000 V, the diode response time is 430 ps (FWHM). The detector was used to obtain temporally resolved x‐ray measurements on laser‐produced plasmas.
